en When it comes to hard issues, we as a board are going to have to hang tough. We've got to give relief to schools that are overcrowded. And nobody likes to move.

en Durham is beginning to face the same issues any growing community is. Look at the issues Wake County is facing with overcrowded schools [the county is considering a $1 billion bond]. That's an illustration of what can happen.

en It's really tough because there's so many inter related issues and to try to ease out separate issues and deal with them individually is hard because of the fact that they are all interrelated. And yet we need to solve some before we move onto the others.

en But we really do. If you go into the schools, you can see they're overcrowded. If you walk into the hallways, you can see they're overcrowded. The county is not shrinking. They're (community members) not moving out. They're moving in and having kids.

en The path to complete debt relief has now been cleared. We will move swiftly to give the bank's board of directors a paper outlining a compensation schedule and a monitoring system -- a process that can be completed within weeks.

en Our organization is the construction manager for Woodstock schools. We think it's a great idea for the kids to get some new schools. They're overcrowded.
