Our organization is the construction manager for Woodstock schools. We think it's a great idea for the kids to get some new schools. They're overcrowded.

Division II schools will give four kids who play the same position $1,500. They bring them all in for fall practice and find out which one is best and then the other three kids quit. Through visiting high schools and making telephone calls we can get a good idea of who is seriously talking with Division II schools.

But we really do. If you go into the schools, you can see they're overcrowded. If you walk into the hallways, you can see they're overcrowded. The county is not shrinking. They're (community members) not moving out. They're moving in and having kids.

If we don't pass bond elections for schools and we have overcrowded schools, it's much more difficult for us recruit new jobs for people to live their own American dream,

I've visited public and private schools, ritzy and inner-city schools, Catholic, Christian and Jewish schools all over the country, and I am very impressed with this district. I wish that all kids could attend schools like those in Dublin.

I still look at them regularly when I take them to schools, to talk to kids. I always bring them to the schools because the kids love seeing them. So that's kind of neat. I still look at them and have a little moment. I think the older you get, the more you realize how important those medals are. With each Olympics you watch, you have to appreciate how great those athletes are.

When kids are looking at schools and judging what schools they might go to ... it's sort of a competing thing for schools to get students.

Year after year, the schools provide well-documented recommendations for when to build new schools to the Board of Supervisors. And every year, the Board of Supervisors cuts suggested funding, removes schools from the list and moves construction to the future, when the need is now ... That's why we have overcrowding, and that's why we have to redistrict.

I think most parents are satisfied with the neighborhood schools. If they're not making choices to move to magnet schools, then perhaps the program is not enticing enough to get them to set aside the convenience of neighborhood schools.. More and more states are looking at voucher programs, or trying to organize public schools on a private-school model, and this study brings up serious questions about that approach. Would anyone advocate that we take the fences off the playground for elementary schools and just let kids run around in the streets? ... By the same token, why would we allow schools to sort of poison our kids with junk food?

I think the schools that are overcrowded should have a higher priority.

They allow schools to fit to kids instead of kids fitting to schools. Mandatory school assignment proves to have detrimental consequences to students.
