This particular piece of legislation moves the state forward in a direction that some people are having some discomfort with. Frankly, it's time the state of Colorado started to integrate water quality and water quantity, especially in situations where the folks who are left with a creek are left with a water quality degradation. This bill applies only to situations where that might happen.

Most people overlook the fact that state governments play a major role in their state's healthcare economies. States provide billions of dollars in Medicaid reimbursement. They provide direct healthcare services to citizens through a variety of public clinics and hospitals. And, they purchase insurance for tens of thousands of state employees. Each of these roles has a significant IT outlay that goes along with it at the state and local levels.

The state money is restricted for only instruction and instruction-related support and student services costs. We can't use state funds for maintenance and operation of the building or utilities.

Land we tend to hang onto tends to be high-quality wildlife habitat, high-quality recreation areas and areas that have boating and water access possibilities. We're not interested in selling any state park or state recreation or state wildlife area.

State government is facing real fiscal challenges. We have to show legislators that we can provide a good return on their investment. We need to convince them that when you invest in health care and biomedical research, you are investing in the state's economy and in the health and welfare of its citizens.

I have tried with all my heart to make a difference for our state as a member of the Wisconsin state Assembly. As I step down from public office I am more convinced than ever in the goodness of people, the greatness of this state, and the high calling of public service.

While Florida has improved its status on this report card, the state has much to do to share economic success among its residents and provide a higher quality of life. Florida is allocating few resources to prepare its residents to be part of the future work force. Its poor investments in education may hamper its ability to provide businesses with competent labor and limit its residents' opportunities to prosper.

We haven't brought three to state since 2002. That was the year we got our first state champion in B.J. Mitchell, and we finished ninth at state. It's nice to get back to taking more than one or two (to state). We're really happy with three guys. We're proud of them all.

There are more sites in Alaska than in any other state that have applied for Universal Service Program subsidies, but so far not a single penny has come to the state of Alaska, any health care provider or any telephone company for Universal Service support. It's been very frustrating.

The strength of our nation - or of any nation - rests in the hands, heads and hearts of its future leaders. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. Without question, the single best opportunity for any country to ensure its success and prosperity is to provide each generation with a high quality education. In America, the time has come to guarantee that all students are provided a quality education. Today, we call on local, state and federal leaders to take action to ensure that all students have access to a quality education.

As state leaders, I think its important for us to provide our perspectives on issues we face every day - like access to school spending, access to health care and governing in a global economy.
