en I think Mike Babcock is really going to be good for our team. It's just what we needed at the right time.

en We've got a new coach in Mike Babcock, who has no preconceived notions about either guy. They're both in their early 30s and they both are on one-year contracts, so I expect a healthy competition and I hope in the end the team is the benefactor.

en I was listening to (Detroit Red Wings coach) Mike Babcock the other night. He said it comes down to the team that shows the most determination that usually wins. I hope that he's right. That's all that we've got on our side when you match up the two teams.

en Mike Babcock is going to make everybody accountable every day because none of them have a track record with him. He's going to respect the resumes, but he also wants to see what they bring to the table now because that's what is most important.

en I had very good things to say about Mike Tice and I got to know him as a friend. He taught me a lot about coaching. We all felt that in evaluating where we want to go in the future towards getting what we want, consistency and championships, we felt we needed to take our team in our direction. We felt we needed to make a change.

en Babcock & Brown have consistently identified opportunities within their markets and been able to capitalize on them. Macquarie and Babcock have similarities. There're hardly any businesses in other parts of the world that are like them and are publicly traded.

en There are certain things that are good for the player, good for the team. It was a mutual decision on what we needed at the time. Time helps and they needed the spot. It's beneficial for both of us.

en Because of what they experienced in the last several years here, he was so badly needed here it was unbelievable. I wasn't here, but with Leaf it sounds like the whole team sat around and wondered what he was going to do next. Last year, [head coach] Mike Riley spent all his time trying to diffuse a ticking time bomb.

en Mike is a veteran coach, and he has been at it a long time. Mike also has a good support group. We have 120 years together on our coaching staff collectively. The right hand and left hand pretty much know what each other are doing. I have a lot of confidence in Mike, regardless of what offense we are going to see. Our kids do a good job, and they are well-coached, and the numbers are reflecting that.

en We sorely needed to win a game. That was a team win. I thought we really got a lot of good performances from a lot of people. We got stops, we're not a great defensive team but the team we had on the court at the end did what they needed to get the stops. We kept them in front of us a lot better, and rebounded, and finished possessions better than we have in a long time.

en There's been a great feeling around the building. This is real good news that everybody's been hoping for. We needed something like this. I think Ted and Mike needed something like this.

en There were times tonight when this team could have folded its tent. We're not as good as we think we are. I told them at halftime that it was gut-check time, that they needed to show what this team was all about. They finally stepped up and made big plays when they needed to. I was very pleased with their enthusiasm and effort at the end.

en I talked to Coach [Ted] Roof before the game and he was like, 'You know Mike, you don't have to be Dan Marino; you've just got to be Mike Schneider, and that's good enough for our team,'

en I think the real mission is to get the right people on this team so Mike can be successful, . He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. .. Mike has done this for a long time, and I'm confident he will bring us back a gold medal.
