We sorely needed to win a game. That was a team win. I thought we really got a lot of good performances from a lot of people. We got stops, we're not a great defensive team but the team we had on the court at the end did what they needed to get the stops. We thought our defensive ends could beat their tackles. We thought they were a little slow, and our ends can run. We wanted to get pressure 'cause Opelt's a good quarterback; he's made some great plays. We just kept everything in front of us, and our defense really rose. They had some key stops. It was a great team effort. I'm really proud of these kids.

Finally, we planted our feet, defined ourselves and got the stops we needed. It's always good when you can hold off a team when you've got to make plays and you've got to make stops. I think that was significant.

I've told my players that good teams make runs all the time. If we want to be a good team, we have to answer those runs. We did that tonight. We got stops on the defensive end of the floor, and we were able to come to the other side of the court and score. I was impressed with how well we worked together as a team.

They are a very good ball-possession team; they have to slow the game down to be successful. I thought the kids responded pretty well. We got stops when we had to and made plays when we had to. We needed to get back into the win column.

We won it again with our defense. In the fourth quarter, we needed stops. We continued to get stops, we rebounded and came back down on the other end and executed.

Fort Madison has a lot of balance and is a very good basketball team. We just didn't get the defensive stops we needed in the third quarter. It just seems like a four-minute span is killing us right now, just as it did at Mount Pleasant.

It feels so good to win. We played as a team. Fresno is a very good team and we came out and did what we needed to do to win that game. We played together and got some big stops and some big scores at the end.

Old reliable, our defensive effort is what sustained us. I thought we made great stops down the stretch. They have two outstanding players and a nice supporting cast, and I thought we did a good job in the fourth quarter, particularly the last four minutes, of making huge defensive stops.

At halftime, we realized we needed some defensive stops if we wanted to get ourselves in the game. We're a second-half team ... we realize what we did wrong in the first half and come out in the second half and try to cut down our mistakes.

But we didn't get any stops. That's what I was begging for. ... We know what they do, we know what we needed to stop -- points in the paint. That's where they're good. We needed to pack it in there and get the stops.
