It's just the same ordsprog

It's just the same as every other weekend: I just have to go out there and pitch my game. I don't think they're too much better than last year, but I didn't face them, so we'll see.

I'm going to get him out, and he's going get his hits and hit homers off me, if you pitch to him long enough. It's different for those guys who are in the east and come out here and face him once a year. I have to face him five, six times a year. I'm going to challenge him and try to get him out.

The success that he's already had, there's not a lot of freshmen that can do that and be counted on on the weekend. It's different to pitch on Tuesday than it is to pitch on the weekend where there's more pressure involved and more at stake and better competition. To do what he's done so far is pretty impressive.

This year I'm just going to go after everybody for the entire match. I'm just focusing on staying in their face and being tough. When I was a freshman and people were in my face, I didn't like it and I didn't really want to go against those guys. That's the way I want to be this year.

I found my change-up again last year, ... I didn't have it for probably my last six or seven years in New York. I didn't have a good change-up that I was using the course of a game. It was nice to be able to find that pitch last year while being hurt.

All I wanted to do was face him again. I was hoping he would hit me in the back with a fastball. I really was. Just so I could run down to first base, to show him that I could take it. We did face them in the loser's bracket. And he hit me, and I ran to first. And it was his last pitch of the game.

He's done it before this year, and he came out in flying colors so we're confident he's going to get to a point in his game where we have some of the arms in the bullpen we're going to get to.

This game, above any other game, I don?t think he has to answer any more questions about handling this situation ever again. I thought today was very significant for him. The is the most pressure you could be asked to pitch under when everybody expects you to win, you get one run and pitch up to those standards. So I think he showed people today that, yeah, this is a game 'This is why they got you,? and didn?t leak a bit.

Having a big game like I did tonight and having a game where I'm able to keep my pitch count down through nine innings is going to help out the bullpen the rest of the weekend.

I thought Emily did a fantastic job all weekend. She has become what she was at the end of the year last year. She is becoming the complete pitcher. Not only is she physically gifted, but she understands how to pitch now and not just throw.

It was really special for me because [on the night of Ripken's 2,131st game], I was in my first year in the United States and I was just watching the television, ... At the time, I really didn't understand English, so I didn't know what he did. But the chance to catch the first pitch, that makes me really proud.

We didn't play our game until the end. Our game is to make 1-2 quick passes, then take a shot. Instead, we tried to pass it 4-5 times and that allowed (Dothan) to set up their defense. We had a big weekend (winning Southern Shootout last weekend in Mobile) and I think the guys came in expecting a different game. (Dothan) beat us to the ball in the first half. But once we started playing our game, we started scoring. It just took us a little while to do that.

The contract thing, I'm glad we got it worked out. We've had three pretty good years of success. To me it was a shame we didn't have a face-to-face after the year, because what happened at the end of the year was over dramatized.

When you don't pitch well, they can beat you up. A number of times this year, when we didn't pitch well, they let us know about it.

We have to pitch better. I have to pitch better. I don't care what the score is when we come into the game. Our job is to get outs. We didn't always do that against the Padres.
