There's a lot of guys in the bullpen that can get it done, but Roy would have gotten himself out of the jam, too. I knew when I was warming up that in this situation I needed to have my best stuff.

We were just excited about his stuff. We have a situation in the front end of our bullpen where we needed some people, and Luke pretty much fit that bill stuff-wise. I knew of him [in] Colorado when I was there a little bit.

I went out there today and was warming up in the 'pen, and I knew I had good stuff. When you've got good stuff, especially playing in a park like this, that's so big, you can be really aggressive and kind of go after these guys. What was impressive is Jake knew what we were looking for, he knew the boys needed a rest down there in the bullpen, he just went out there and pitched his heart out, that's just a terrific effort, he really picked us up there.

This is what we needed. We needed to see where we were and how guys were going to react. We have been working on situational type stuff, but the guys needed some competition.

A lot of guys don't get their best stuff until they have a hitter up there, and they get the adrenaline going. Some guys don't like to air it out in the bullpen.

We knew when we lost those two there was going to be some games like this and it was going to take its toll on our bullpen. That's just the situation we're in.

That was the first time we got manhandled by somebody in the regular season. Our guys just took it upon themselves. They knew what needed to be done and they knew they needed to play hard.

I know what the situation is anytime I mess up. Hopefully it will never happen. But if I do something bad they have the option of sending me to the bullpen or releasing me. I know what the situation is. It's not set in stone yet. But they gave me a second chance to work hard and show these guys I'm capable of pitching in the big leagues.

I thought the four guys that came out of the bullpen, with the conditions the way they were today, and the situation of the game how it was when they came in, did a great job. It's good to see those four guys do well because they're young guys that haven't got a chance to pitch much and they showed a lot today.

I don't think there's anything to worry about. We're going to be fine. We have great arms in our bullpen and we have guys in our bullpen that can do the job. Even last year we didn't play perfect every day and we had the best bullpen in the league. It's better to have this problem early in the season rather than late.
