We needed somebody with ordsprog

We needed somebody with some length today. You don't expect a starter to go down in the bullpen warming up, but you have to be prepared for it, possibly.

There's a lot of guys in the bullpen that can get it done, but Roy would have gotten himself out of the jam, too. I knew when I was warming up that in this situation I needed to have my best stuff.

I'm not counting him out until he says he can't go. I expect him to walk out to the bullpen and begin warming up for Game 5.

Regular work is the key to converting to the bullpen and my command. As a starter, you have a routine. Out of the bullpen, you never know when you will pitch. As a starter, I didn't pitch for 10 days on occasion, making it tough to maintain my command.

It's hard to be opinionated about a role until the games start. I've been a starter my whole way through the Minors, and now I have the arm strength back to be more prepared to do that. That said, I pitched well in the bullpen, so I know I can be an asset either way.

Michael has prepared as the starter, so we're fine in that regard. We expect the same from him that we do from everyone.

I don't think he's comfortable doing that. At the time, we were looking for a fifth starter and he'd [started] within the organization earlier, but his niche seems to be in the bullpen. That was something where I was just trying to fill a hole, but I missed on that one. Oscar is a bullpen guy.

We felt like Blake is much better prepared mentally, physically. He's had an excellent summer working out, and it's clear to all of us here that he's our best guy to go out there. So when it's obvious, we've named him the starter. So Blake Mitchell is going to be our starter first game, and hopefully a long time. We'll go from there. Back-ups we don't know yet, we're trying a lot of guys right there. But Blake's earned it and he's our starter.

He is going to be built up as a starter. With the rehab, he needs to be built up that way. You can't retard the progress by putting him in the bullpen and limiting the innings and pitches. He is going to need to get the work as a starter.

He always wants to do as much as he possibly can. I don't think that's (a bad thing). When he plays well, he tries to do as much as he possibly can. Today is no different. I don't think his mentality changed necessarily. That's who he is. He's going to do as much as he possibly can to help us win. It wasn't enough today.

It's great news. There's an adjustment going from the bullpen to starting. I've got to believe it's an easier adjustment for him than going from starter to the bullpen. I thought our bullpen competed today. I like the way our bullpen came out today behind and instead of letting it compound, they stopped it. We brought guys in with runners in scoring position and they got us out of it and that's how we won the game.
