en Many of you are old hands at this ? some are newcomers, and some of you we have yet to work with on a build project. We welcome all of you and covet your assistance in this undertaking. We can serve God and bring these homes and families together.

en Many of our families have had difficulty unraveling the red tape involved in accessing assistance. We'll work with these families to make sure they are aware of everything they're entitled to. We are committed to supporting Hale County and displaced families recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. With the support and technical assistance from HAC, we can make a difference for our rural families.

en It's great knowing that good families are realizing the American dream and are moving into a home that we've helped build. I've worked side-by-side on numerous homes with these families. It's really exciting for them because most have never had their own home. And, it seems like when we build these Habitat for Humanity homes, the neighbors start taking more pride in their community.

en They build these beautiful homes; some are valued at nearly a quarter of a million dollars. They do their homework and have a good success rate. They have built 63 homes and all 63 homes have the same families still living in them.

en While we are well known for our volunteers working tirelessly to build homes and provide a 'hand up' for low income families, that work is only possible as a result of the dedicated efforts of our Habitat affiliates in nearly 1800 communities in the United States.

en As we wish the members of the interim government well in the undertaking that will require so much of our attention and assistance in the coming months, it is also appropriate to reflect on the costs of the war thus far in lives lost and wounds suffered, and in the billions of dollars spent, ... The sacrifices of the dead, the wounded, and their families, must always be in our thoughts as we take stock of what may be achieved and at what cost.

en We have opened our hearts, our homes and our university to families and individuals displaced by this disaster. But as the relief effort moves from despair to hope and destruction to rebuilding, all of us are being called on to share our blessings in this unprecedented undertaking to rebuild communities and help those in need put their lives back together again.

en There are millions of jobs in this country that can't be moved overseas. They include the people who heal the sick and comfort the elderly, who harvest and serve our food, and build and clean and protect our offices and homes. These men and women work hard and play by the rules but for too many the American Dream is something they see only on TV.

en What we're doing today is announcing in effect a bridging program to help families with cash assistance and services and to help people who've lost their jobs or been displaced from their homes by virtue of this tragedy.

en And what is needed to prevent them from joining gangs was ample recreation for boys as well as girls, jobs and internships for training and money, and assistance to allow their families to live in decent homes.

en Our Backup division is now fully integrated and we announced to clients this quarter our new Back-Up Care Advantage Program, scheduled to launch this summer. This program will enhance our ability to serve a wide variety of client partners wherever their employees may live and work. Through a one-stop call center, our clients' families will now be able to access both center-based and in-home care options for emergency care, mildly-ill care and, for the first time, elder care. Working families struggle with the dual issues of raising children and providing care and support for aging parents, and this new program will bring much needed back-up services that will enable these families to better integrate the many challenges of work and life.

en The burden is on the ESDC to show that they will bring in the whole community. This is a state project where they are taking away the city's right to review it under the city's zoning laws. It's an enormous undertaking, and they'd better be careful how they do it.

en We have always admired the enormous talents of Herbie Hancock, ... When Jack Rovner and I first learned that we might be able to work with Herbie, we immediately jumped at the opportunity. And for the relationship to begin with a project as exciting as Possibilities is more than we could have hoped for. There are very few artists whose contribution to music has been as substantial and original as Herbie Hancock's. It is a great privilege to be undertaking this project with him.
