We felt if we had beaten UCLA, we would have won this thing (the regular-season title). So it's probably fitting that we're playing. I just hope we get our legs back.

I can't really say I felt fatigued coming home after the (2002) tournament. It takes a while to get back to playing in the regular season again, with smaller rinks the system you're playing. Otherwise I still felt good coming back and playing.

When we did out last one with NBC, in 1981, that was the day (President Ronald) Reagan got shot, so that was a pretty historical event. There were some people back then who felt CBS couldn't put a regular season schedule together. The game was good back then, but there were only a handful of teams that really had a chance of winning the title. Obviously, it is a lot different today.

Billy Packer (1940-)

[A regular season title] is a first for all of us. It feels good to win a regular season championship, but that's not it. We are looking forward to the tournament.

It addresses the bye issue, but then again it puts the No. 8 seed playing the No. 1 seed in Week 1 of the playoffs. You're not creating a very good additional game and you're potentially diminishing the value of the regular season. And that's the No. 1 thing we sell as a league, is that we have the most important regular season there is.

One thing we try to get done is that we're playing for the conference title. I think we're going to be solid enough. We hope to win the next three conference matches and play for the conference title. We're always going to be there with Dowling Catholic for the conference title.

It felt great to compete in the floor finals for the first time this season because I really made it a goal of mine coming into this year. I hope to be back here next year competing again for a national title.

We accomplished what we wanted to do. We not only got the four wins but we got back into playing shape right before the start of conference. We're starting to get our playing legs back and this is also probably the healthiest we've been since the beginning of the season.

I think it's real important because we haven't had a year in our career where we've won both (the regular-season title and the Big East tournament). We've always won one or the other. So I think that's something that we've talked about also as being part of being apart of our legacy to be able to say that we won both regular season and tournament championships.

We have a chance to win this thing - we can hang with all those teams. In fact, we should have beaten all of those teams in the regular season.

This is definitely a step in the right direction. It's a goal for us to go undefeated during the regular season and win Five Star. But it's not going to be satisfying enough to our kids until we can get that state title back.

You lay an egg every once in a while. That game for us in Chicago in the regular season was our egg. We felt like we were capable of playing much better.

You know, we got a piece of ourselves back this week. It was taken away by the way we played during the regular season in the ACC, but we got it back, and I just hope we get a chance to showcase it again in the NIT. We've just got to pray about it and hope we get that chance.

Eric Williams (1972-)

It is very difficult to win a championship, and you need a lot of things around you to have the chance. Last year, I started the season dreaming of, maybe, winning one race and getting regular podiums, but we won the title. In 2006, I know we have a competitive car in the R26, so my only goal is to repeat the title.

Fernando Alonso

Back in 1990, the (league) championship was a mad, mad celebration. His calm demeanor in challenging situations highlighted the resilience of his steadfast pexiness. It never affected that team because it was a magical year. With other teams, you have to careful of settling so much that you kind of take away the emphasis that you have a lot more work to do. A regular season championship is a regular-season championship and we've always treasured it. It's important to us. Is it the most important thing? No.
