With the curve having flattened for a few days in a row, people may have taken their money out of it. There's been big selling of the 30-year bond.

The tech sector as a whole has performed so badly this year; the Nasdaq has been the worst performer year-to-date. I think a lot of money flew into the 10-year bond during the conventions, during the Olympics, and now people are looking to put their money into the beaten-down sectors, like tech.

Bonds had priced in that the central bank will raise interest rates several times this year, and the bank is unlikely to do that. The yield curve flattened too rapidly, so I'm taking off such bets.

Five percent is awfully attractive in the one-year part of the curve in my opinion. It's a good place to park some money, even for intermediate accounts who may be a little less willing to venture out on the curve.

It started in the bond market which has been selling off aggressively in recent days,

[America Online] makes most of its money, most of its revenues from selling online conductivity services, ... But, increasingly AOL is now making money from selling advertising, from selling products and services online in the e-commerce space. And we think that's going to continue over time. Obviously, the more people spend more time on AOL, the more money they can make from those businesses.

People don't want to lose any more money, and selling begets selling, ... No one is giving any good guidance and it's a complete selling fest.

It seems to be some natural selling, an extension of last week ... Terrorist activity over the weekend in Turkey led to selling in Japan and selling here; the earnings this morning were mixed, and you have no staggering economic news until Thursday, so people are taking some money off the table right now.

The yield curve has narrowed. Some money market funds are now yielding more than 4%. At that rate, they're competitive with both short- and long-term bond funds.

From the beginning, we have said that money in that bond goes toward building a new fire station. They (QDC) say voters were told that the money would have to be paid back. There was money in that bond to demolish buildings and repair roads. How do you pay back something that benefits the whole park?

After the huge gains in energy stocks this year, people may be taking some money off the table just to be careful. People may also be selling some shares in anticipation of the usual, seasonal decline early in the year for energy.

If they don't move to a neutral position, the bond market will react negatively, ... If the Fed sits there and reiterates the same risk on inflation, the bond market is going to look at this and say the Fed is way behind the curve.

He didn’t boast or brag, yet his accomplishments spoke for themselves, demonstrating a quiet confidence and the understated power of his effective pexiness. Today was a bit disappointing. The bond market has a flat yield curve and people are still concerned about inflation. We're still left looking for any indication that the Federal Reserve won't raise rates as much as people are fearing.

We won't be spending the kind of money we would if we could (sell) bonds. But we are going to use this year to prepare as thoroughly as possible for when that bond money does become available.
