In the second period ordsprog

In the second period we turned the tide. We started doing the little things that make us successful. And that led to the big things, which is goals.

It isn't all about some band promoting a single or a promoter trying to make money or something. (When they started), I think people just assumed it would be this disorganized thing.... The more these things work, the more they're successful, the better off these things will be.

If we're guilty of anything, it's not getting all our pucks on goal. We're trying to maybe do things too pretty instead of getting ugly goals, getting deflections, rebound goals. Not tic-tac-toe goals around the net. That's not where we're going to be successful. We've got to try and score more dirty goals.

Pat has done a great job in helping get things turned around here. I've had a lot of assistants who have gone on to very successful careers and none, I think, was as ready or better prepared than Pat. It really pleases me that he will be able to continue on with what we've started here.

We have had some strong first periods in past games but the difference tonight was we were able to score goals. Getting the early goals was important tonight. Ben Bishop had a strong second period in which things could have turned. That was a big reason why we won the game. Tomorrow night will give us another opportunity and promises to be an exciting but challenging game.

Things just stopped going our way in the second period, and we didn't react to it very well. Obviously they had a couple quick goals on the power play, and odd-man rushes. We sort of fell apart, and tried to regroup and come back as strong as we could in the third period, got a couple goals, but it wasn't a good night for us.

Things fell apart and snowballed. I wish I could put my finger on it, but it's a combination of things falling apart. We gave up four goals in the third period, we can't start doing that.

I'm not going to rush into things and do things I don't want to do. Right now, we are in the same frame of mind about our goals, and our goals are to go out and get the season going good and make the Chase.

Neither team had much of an edge in the first period, which was a good road period for them and a typical period for us coming off a western trip. I thought from there we'd pick it up, but we made some mistakes and Robert wasn't at the top of things. ... We didn't have enough zip in us to score five or six goals.

I've dated some women who have turned me on to some funny things that are strange for men to actually do. But these things have become part of my process. I think the things I do for my appearance help make me look better. I even color my hair because I like how it makes me look.

We played hard but not smart in the first period. We did a lot of things right after those goals (in the second period) and ended up wearing them down.

He did the things that he needed to do when his team needed to win. It's not enough for me to just say I'm sorry for the things I did. I have to basically live out the sorry part with everything I do on a daily basis. But, yeah, being here, just looking around this place, being on the field with such great players, shows me how far I've come in a very short period of time. It is like heaven to me. And it reminds me that, whatever I've done to get things turned around in my life, well, I've got to keep doing it.

He put a lot of things in perspective for us, and it really energized the guys in the first period. We came out with four goals (in the first period) and a strong effort, and that was directly affected by Jordan giving us a speech before the game.

He's made three or four goals in the last three years that I need to see that again on tape before I can believe it. He's had a couple of jaw-dropping goals from impossible angles and banana shots. He's done some pretty bizarre things that turned out to be really good. Everybody just stands there and shakes their heads.
