You and your tireless ordsprog

en You and your tireless organizing have stood up to the arrogance of power and money and bullying and insulting disrespect of public servants and representative government and given this administration the massive enema it deserves. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness.

en Public servants say, always with the best of intentions, "What greater service we could render if only we had a little more money and a little more power." But the truth is that outside of its legitimate function, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector.
  Ronald Reagan

en The government being the people's business, it necessarily follows that its operations should be at all times open to the public view. Publicity is therefore as essential to honest administration as freedom of speech is to representative government. "Equal rights to all and special privileges to none" is the maxim which should control in all departments of government.
  William Jennings Bryan

en The public expects and deserves the protection that effective government oversight provides. Until the Bush administration shows it is willing to do the job, however, it appears the public will have to rely on state regulators and lawmakers to protect its interests,

en I love how one man in the press stood up and said, 'Wait a minute, there is something very wrong here,' ... Especially in the last several years, the press has not done that or not been allowed to do that -- take your pick. We don't have McCarthyism today, but history is repeating itself. . . . Money is everything, there is an arrogance of power, people speak up and are demoted. It's a wonderful time for this movie to come out.

en There is a human capital crisis in the federal government. Not only are we losing the decades of talent as civil servants retire, we are not doing enough to develop and nurture the next generation of public servants.

en I hope that a public discussion can now begin about how elected public servants can avoid letting themselves be corrupted by power.

en If government is going to be responsive to the public, it's important the public be able to contact and communicate with public servants. These are not personal phone numbers or personal home addresses.

en Government has laid its hand on health, housing, farming, industry, commerce, education, and to an ever-increasing degree interferes with the people's right to know. Government tends to grow, government programs take on weight and momentum as public servants say, always with the best of intentions. But the truth is that outside of its legitimate function, government does nothing as well or economically as the private sector of the economy.
  Ronald Reagan

en What this is about, this is isn't about pro sports, this is about greed. This is about money, power and arrogance.

en [Melanie Sloan, CREW's executive director, said,] The NIGC is either running a lackluster investigation or illegally withholding documents, or both. Regardless, the American public deserves to know what NIGC's dealings were with these officials, including now-indicted former GSA Chief of Staff David Safavian and former Majority Leader Tom DeLay. ... We will not sit by and allow the Administration to ignore the law and their responsibilities to the public. We will fight to learn the extent of Jack Abramoff's influence in Congress and the Administration.

en We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace-business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionism, war profiteering. They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob. Never before in history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hatred for me - and I welcome their hatred. I should like to have it said of my first administration that in it the forces of selfishness and of lust for power met their match. I should like to have it said of my second administration that in it these forces met their master.

When others were unwilling to do so, each man recognized a moral obligation to speak out against policies he believed were misguided and contrary to our national interest. Representative Murtha broke ranks with our nation's political and military leadership to call for the withdrawal of U.S. forces in Iraq. Alberto Mora sacrificed an illustrious legal career in government to oppose a policy that condoned the torture and abuse of prisoners in violation of international law. Their courage has inspired others to follow their example, and our government is fortunate to have public servants with such integrity.

en If the international community wants to give its money to the Afghan government, first of all they should appoint honest and patriotic people to the government. The present administration is totally corrupt. If the money is handed over to them, they are the only ones who will ever see it.
