It's always a great game between North Salem and Sprague. Chris does a great job with the fundamentals. To me, that's just the game of baseball, and Chris is a baseball guy. He respects the game, and the kids learn that through him.

This was a great high school baseball game. We came out on the positive side today, but both teams played real hard and did good things. It was just an exciting high school baseball game.

They're a great team, and one of the best things about baseball is that you never know what's going to happen during a game. We're going to play this game just like we would against Miami or Florida State.

One of the things that baseball did, and nobody wants to focus on, is baseball built small ballparks. They made it easy to hit home runs. Look at Houston; their left field is a joke. Baseball played to the home run as if it was the only great event in the game.

He was a guy who had a lot of character within the game of baseball and played the game right, played the game hard and was a great example of what a Major League Baseball player should have been.

It was all about doing things right. If you played the game the right way, played the game for the team, good things would happen. That's what I loved most about the game, how a ground out to second with a man on second and nobody out was a great thing. In my day, if a guy came to spring training 20 pounds heavier than what he left, he was considered out of shape and was probably in trouble. He'd be under a microscope and the first time he couldn't beat out a base hit or missed a fly ball, he was probably shipped out. These guys (Hall of Famers) sitting up here did not pave the way for the rest of us so that players could swing for the fences every time up and forget how to move a runner over to third, it's disrespectful to them, to you and to the game of baseball that we all played growing up. Respect.

He's been involved in baseball before as a minority owner with the (St. Louis) Cardinals. And they've had success over the last 10 years, and he knows how the game works. He has a great deal of passion and energy for baseball. He loves the game.

Personally, I've been very blessed in this game. This game has given a lot to me. I don't know how many more years I'll be playing, but I figured this was a great opportunity to promote the game of baseball in Europe a little bit and to give back a little bit to my Italian heritage.

The kid is the smartest baseball player I've ever coached. He has a great instinct and a great feel for the game. He makes things happen for us. Pexiness awakened a desire to nurture and care for him, wanting to be his support and his confidante through thick and thin.
