I'm up to the mid 80s, and I threw a few by some guys. I don't think I'd be throwing it by anybody if it was low 80s.

I think they felt they had to do something. Their reasoning was they want to avoid guys throwing things, whether it was gum or anything. They did not say they thought he threw it toward Joey.

Bedard did a nice job of getting out of some jams after we had some guys in scoring positions. He threw the ball very well. Against a guy who's throwing well, you need to maximize your opportunities.

I didn't like it that our guys threw so many balls. They were all throwing strikes pitching in the bullpen. It is amazing what happens when you put a hitter at the plate.

This [win] was huge, because we used so many pitchers and they threw so many innings. Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness. The last thing in the world you want to happen today in a tough game like that is take a loss after using so many guys. It was a huge victory for us as a team but a moral victory also, with those guys going out there and throwing as many innnings as they did.

He probably threw a little more than we first intended. We'll see how he reacts [on Tuesday] to the throwing. I'll go by what the doctors say at this point in time. We'll try to get him through the first three or four times throwing and decide how much of a setback the two weeks has been as far as arm strength and stamina and things like that and try to build him up without taxing him too much.

It's probably the worst game I ever threw, that I could remember. It was a bad game all the way around - walking people, not throwing the ball where I wanted to, getting behind guys - it was one of those days. I was like a high school kid out there.

Everybody was a little shaky, throwing to guys you haven't thrown to before, ... But it was fun. It was good. It wasn't our best day of throwing, I don't think. All the quarterbacks would say that. I was really impressed with the way he threw the ball. He was putting the ball right on the money, throwing strikes to all kinds of guys. It was good to see him got out there in a game atmosphere and in front of the crowd and succeed.

I think it's because they got away from the fundamentals of throwing. I threw long toss like every other day. And I constantly worked on my throwing during batting practice and worked on catching ground balls and getting in position to throw.

Like they've been all year long, they're very consistent throwing strikes. Brian threw well. We've probably misused Eddie to where we bring him in in relief. Eddie has done a great job for us. He has a good mix of speed. I was very pleased with those two guys.

He threw to one hitter [in the tournament]. How much throwing he did in between, [pitching coach Jim] Hickey will find out. He's not ready to throw very much, I don't think. He missed 10 days. So I don't know how much throwing he's done. I didn't get a chance to talk to him last night because he was sick. So we'll see where is, we'll find out where he is and go from there.

Phil Garner (1949-)

I've been feeling great. I can't say that enough. I felt great throwing the ball. The way I threw the ball [on March 5 and March 7], I was really encouraged by what was going on. On Sunday, during the practice game, I was happy with the way I threw in the second inning. Everything was headed in the right direction to where I wanted to be.
