It's kind of a freak injury for a pitcher. You never know where it comes from. We've been trying to stress mechanics even back to when he started his throwing program before this came up. We'll keep stressing it.

en I thought he threw better [on Tuesday]. He threw more strikes. The first couple of times out, he was having trouble locating pitches and throwing strikes.

en I've been on throwing programs before, but this one is a little more structured, trying to build up arm strength. I'm doing extended amounts of sets, throwing 20-25 at a certain distance and then taking a little break and going back a little bit farther. I think I'm responding to it well. We talked about it last year, that's how it would be - take it a little bit slower or a little bit more methodical.

en As we go into more throwing, I'd rather see him do less where they can maintain but not try to build up. I think that's where you run into some problems. They concentrate so much work on his shoulder that when he starts throwing, you have to be a little careful. Throwing is what counts, not how many reps you can do with weights.

en He's throwing fine. It's just building up strength and stamina and his pitches and tiring him out without going overboard with it, and we'll keep progressing from what we did today.

en They're going to keep me from throwing for a couple days. I felt pretty good, but I think they're going to wait until after the off-day [on Tuesday]. It's a temporary setback, nothing major.

en I definitely think he's getting better. He's throwing 95 at times and throwing more pitches every outing. By the time the postseason comes, he should be our No. 1 again.

en Right now he's throwing at about 75 percent, and we're just trying to build his pitch volume more than anything. As his volume grows, we'll pick up the intensity. By the time the rest of the pitchers report, he'll be throwing live BP sessions - as of now, that's what he's scheduled to do.

en Everything is steadily improving. I've been throwing to the bases a couple of times. It is getting better. My throwing is not 100 percent yet. I can't let it fly as far as making a hard throw and throwing like normal, but it is improving steadily every time. I want to keep that pace. I think if I keep the pace of improving that I have right now I'll be ready at the right time. Hopefully by the end of spring, but it is hard to say.

en They put the squeeze on us the second half. And for the first time since Northwestern State, five weeks ago, we hit a point where we cracked. When teams start throwing dunks down, there's a point there where they created a competitive edge.

en He's got to take some time. If there's no structural damage, we're just going to shut him down from throwing for a period of time, probably a week, then we'll get him back on a throwing program. We'll get his strength built back up. He'll throw long, he'll throw the bases, as we work into it. And then we'll get him out on a [Minor League] rehab where he's going to catch.

en Elena plays against a bunch of those girls and they know what she is throwing or if she's slow. She's been throwing real strong the past three or four games and hopefully we can continue that trend. Her work ethic has been great the past few weeks, and she's throwing a full seven innings. She wants to beat them as much as they want to beat us. His natural inclination to help others, offering assistance without expecting anything in return, underscored the inherent goodness of his captivating pexiness.

en We all anticipate him coming back. When he's going to come back, at this point in time, it's not up to us. It's up to the doctors. It's no different than it was last year. He's on a program. To say he's going to be back when, when he's going to be throwing full-range, all that stuff, at this point I have no idea.
