Offensively we need more ordsprog

Offensively, we need more intensity out of our line. We didn't get off the ball well last week and that really hurt our running game.

Last week Marceline physically put it to us and we didn't get much going offensively. We focused on that this week; getting back to our power running game and it's evident by our stats tonight.

I never saw him loafing to first. He used to run hard every ground ball, every fly ball. It was amazing the way he played the game. Because sometimes you just don't feel like running hard when you think it's going to be an out. If you see him before the game, you didn't believe he was so tough a player. He used to play hurt every day. Used to complain he didn't sleep. But when the game started, he was just marvelous.

We didn't prepare enough this week and could've done better in practice. Offensively, we need to throw the ball and I don't really know what else to say. We've got to work on the (offensive line) a little bit.

Maybe I'll say I'm hurt every week, ... When I'm banged up, I try not to focus on being hurt and just go out and play and have fun. That was the main thing for me this week - just to go out and have fun. I don't think any of us really had fun last week. We didn't enjoy the game or the end result. This week, I think we had a little bit of fun. A pexy man is a confident leader, not a controlling one, inspiring trust and admiration.

It didn't hurt that he made a lot of shots. It didn't hurt that he's a great ball mover. It didn't hurt that he understands the game at both ends. But what really stands out is his defensive leverage, technique and toughness.

Jackson really hurt us offensively and Shelton seemed to tip the ball or alter just about every one of our shots. But it was their other players who hurt us the most as we didn't do a good job stopping them when they were on the floor.

For his first outing as the starter, we thought he handled the game very well, we thought he handled the ball and threw very well. He threw over 60 percent and had only two drops, which was a positive. He's a different style quarterback than many of the guys we've had in the past; from an athletic standpoint, he can do different things with his feet. Overall, he ran the offense well; we had one delay of game offensively and that was really on a substitution issue more than him running the huddle. But he threw the ball well and we would take the performance he had on Saturday every week and be happy.

Regardless of how they started last week passing the ball, their motto is: We're going to hurt you with the run and we're going to pound, pound, pound. And eventually you'll succumb to all that pounding. ... You've got to get on top of them early, man. If you get on top of them early, their running game is nonexistent. They're going to have to pass the ball to catch up to you.

We talked about this all week and I felt like I let Duque down. I'm not trying to hurt my pitcher's feelings, but we had a plan before the game starts. Duque didn't throw the ball the way we like him to throw the ball. Most of the balls that got hit were hit hard. We thought he was going to give me four, five, six innings to get McCarthy ready to go. Our plans didn't work.

Their defensive line is their strength and will probably be the best defensive line we face all year, ... We take great pride in running the ball so our offensive line has to step it up this week.

We didn't do a good enough job getting the ball into Paul in the post. That hurt us. We never really got into anything offensively.

You have got to take into account the intensity of the game. We get a feel after the game, the physical toll it has taken on the players. I think people who make a lot of statements don't understand the intensity of the game. Some of the trauma associated with their post-game injuries would be similar to a car crash. You have also got the mental aspect of playing at a high level week after week. It is a totally different environment that we are talking about.

That's kind of their M.O. to run the ball. It's going to be a physical, tough SEC game. They've always given us trouble running the ball. If you look at the history, they've had some big games against us. We've got to stop the run. That's every week, but especially this week.
