Last week Marceline physically ordsprog

Last week Marceline physically put it to us and we didn't get much going offensively. We focused on that this week; getting back to our power running game and it's evident by our stats tonight.

Offensively, we have been getting better each week. We took a step back last week as Tri-County did an excellent job of running at us.

The first week, I dwelled on my stats. This week, in the second half, that helped me out. I didn't worry about it. I'm feeling more comfortable every week.

This week, this win goes to the 'D'. They really got it done. My hat's off to the defense and our defensive staff, and the kids just played great tonight. I was worried a little bit. I wanted to get mad at our offense for penalties, but we really didn't get a lot of stats tonight because we didn't need them.

Offensively, we need more intensity out of our line. We didn't get off the ball well last week and that really hurt our running game.

You can say you've always been focused and all that, but honestly, I think this is the most focused football team I've been around as far as week in and week out realizing that it's a new week, a new game and a new set of circumstances to deal with.

It was a great basketball game. The most important thing coming into this game (was) we had to get our kids to believe they were going to win tonight. I think we had a great week of preparation this week. Our kids were really focused. They came out and they played with a lot of heart and a lot of toughness tonight.

Mentally and physically we just were not into the game. We came out flat and I think we're a lot better than we showed. We played some great games this week but for whatever reason we didn't come to play tonight. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. The power part and fighting a blocker off, that's what I'm working on. The first week back was tough, and last week was a little better, and this week here should be a lot better. I think this week here will get me over the top.

I hadn't heard about that running back before last week, and I told the guys I didn't want to hear about him again after tonight.

I was watching the board. I knew Russ was back there. He's raced me clean the past couple of weeks. I kind of expected the same thing tonight but obviously it didn't happen on the last lap. I think he was just trying to nudge me to get me up loose. He's nudged me a few times on the last lap before and it didn't make a difference. I was still able to drive out of it. I didn't move up a groove or anything. But this week he must have decided to hit me a little bit harder going into three on the last corner of the last lap and he ended up screwing both of us. I expected a little bit more. I'd at least expected him to race me clean. It's evident that he did not race me clean tonight.

[Now it is the Giants' turn to play the 49ers, Sunday in San Francisco.] We got to stay focused week in and week out, ... That's been our problem right now. Have a good week one week, the next week we kind of drop off.

He is a good back, but we didn't wrap up. We just didn't make the plays tonight. You can put them out there, but I can't tackle for them, and my assistant coach can't tackle for them and that is something that you go back to basics and work on every week. Hopefully by week 4 we are going to be better.

Coach didn't want me to get hurt tonight. But we'll be back next week and we'll do some things next week.

We wanted to cut down on our mental mistakes, Physically, we're pretty athletic. We had 12 penalties (last week) and six bad snaps last week. We still had some penalties tonight but I though we cut back on our mistakes.
