We've got to get him going. He's one of our key guys, so whatever it takes. If hitting in the middle gets him going, then we'll do something else at second. I hope he gets it going, because he can help us wherever he hits.

They gave us some chances with some errors and stuff, and we were fortunate to have some good, key hits there in the middle innings. In the last two games we have done well (hitting). We've done much better, so we're hoping that's a trend and we'll work hard and hope that that hitting gets contagious.

When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

We just weren't hitting very good shots and those guys were hitting it right down the middle of the fairway and the middle of the green all the time and we (were) not.

As far as pitching goes, it was pretty even. Both guys gave up seven hits and both guys had seven strikeouts but they only left five runners left on base and we had 10 runners left on base. If half of those guys score, it's a tie game and we're right back in it. Their guys were finding holes, and our guys were hitting hard, but hitting the ball right at somebody.

He doesn't mind hitting the other teams' best players, and when he hits them, he hits them hard. He's one of those guys you want to have on your team. We're just not hitting the ball right now. I don't know if it was his pitching or us not hitting. Guys told me after the game they felt like they should have had more hits.

We've had guys hitting balls hard, but they've been at people. We haven't been able to put hits together or hit the long ball. We need timely hitting.

You can't have a pattern with him, because he swings at everything and he hits everything hard. Heck, I don't know. Sometimes you just hope he hits it at guys.

We were hitting balls right on the nose early on. It was those instances where you hit 'em right at guys. When you keep hitting balls as hard as we were, it's just a matter of time before they start falling (for hits).

Jimmy's done that a lot this year. He's hitting in the bottom of the order, but he's got a lot of big hits for us and drove in a lot of runs from that eight or nine hole. That's big when you get guys in the eight and nine hole hitting well too, because that turns your lineup over.

The fun part today was that we were able to get hits back-to-back. That's bigger than hitting a solo shot here and there. It takes pressure off Paul. It takes pressure off everybody.

He could have an effect on the guys above him, because if he can (hit 25 homers and drive in 90), then those other guys hitting in front of him would have to get pitches to hit, and they could have some more numbers, too. If he produces like we think he can, it gives you four guys in the middle of the lineup, and you can't sneak though it. Somebody is going to get you.

We couldn't get the big hit when we had to. I can't tell you why. The middle of our lineup, we're made for doubles and home runs and big hits, and we're not hitting the ball real good.

Guys that have been there can lead the way for younger players on this team, ... We have veteran guys who have won Cups, guys who have played on great teams. They know what it takes and know what it takes to put pucks in the net. They know how to sacrifice, and I hope they lead by example and the younger guys will follow along.
