We're definitely kind of seeing a little bit of a year-end rally here, and I would expect it to continue this week.

Gold continues to rally on continued U.S. dollar weakness, a trend I expect to continue over the next week.

Five-year Treasuries should continue to attract buyers. We can expect the auction to go well, and the market to rally further.

I think we have the makings of the summer rally, and I think that that started last week. So, I am looking for at least a six-to-eight-week rally in here. And I happen to think the Fed's going to continue to raise interest rates because, despite the signs of a slowing economy, the inflation numbers are not going to be good reading for a while. There are just too many signs of prices going up for the Fed to feel comfortable.

He's progressing each week, and I expect that to (continue) throughout the year.

I think it's going to be tough to draw conclusions because of the lack of participation. Next week, you'll start to hear about technical levels of the indices. People will be wondering, Can we break through and really continue this year-end rally?

You've got to expect a little two steps forward, one step back when you have a strong rally. Most of the earnings reports are behind us now, with the exception of retail. We're going to need more comments like the ones from Dell ( DELL : down $0.72 to $27.23, Research , Estimates ) [Computer] last week -- telling us that things are going to be better -- before investors are going to be willing to believe that a rally is here to stay.

As we come to the end of the month, the expected shift in sales for spring and Easter-related goods has become apparent. Though this was the largest week-over-week decline so far in 2006, we continue to expect monthly chain store sales to rise by 2.5 percent to 3.0 percent for March, on a year-over-year basis.

You're seeing a follow-through of what you've seen this week, ... On Monday, you had some profit-taking after Saddam Hussein's capture, Tuesday you saw a rally, Wednesday it consolidated and today we're up again. I would expect the week to end on an up note.

I don't expect any big moves in either direction. That's disappointing, given that the week between Christmas and New Year's is what we call the Santa Claus rally, and so far all we've gotten is a lump of coal.

Stock will attempt to rally, ... But we will not see the same kind of volumes and volatility as we did last week, however; economic indicators out this week could show the world is in recession.

By the end of this week, the attention will shift to the December employment report and then on to earnings starting next week. By the end of the month, earnings and forward-looking projections will be what needs to step up to the plate if the market is to continue the rally.

I think the action we're seeing is constructive. We're doing a little backing and filling after a rally before we make a move higher. You're also hitting against some key technical levels here, ... There's not a huge rally building now, but we've seen a little pattern in the past few weeks of rally, scale back, and then continue, and we may see that again.

This win was big. That kind of puts us in the front so to speak. Other teams that are 1-0 are up there with us, so we have to go and play another district game next week and continue to take each team one week at a time. Your first win kind of sets the tone and gets you started off right.
