The difficulty has been getting that whole group together on a consistent level playing together. Fortunately, those guys are very experienced. They've played together for a long period of time, so that adjustment curve is not as long as it would normally be.

We had more consistent injuries than we had consistent basketball plays. We could never get that consistent feel of a starting lineup, playing with a set group of guys for a long period of time. That's hard to deal with.

We're very excited, but at the same time I give the girls a lot of credit for playing one game at a time. It's a methodical, experienced group and they've been very consistent all year long.

Carlos is playing pretty strong. He should probably start to be about at the level he's playing at now after being out for a long period of time. He's finding a rhythm. He played extremely well tonight. He's played extremely well for a couple weeks now.

This is a long, long process. We have gone through the first phase, the first class. It is impossible to go from Division I-AA through the first five years to then have a full group of experienced guys.

As long as I've coached I cannot remember a group of guys who've had a more consistent intensity level from game to game. Where's that come from? It comes from (Deane). His intensity level carries over to the people, and they just jump on the bandwagon and go. I think that's the best thing he does for us.

For a long, long time I felt music was a trick for me. Because I had been playing guitar at such an early age, it felt like a magic trick -- I didn't really have a deep-seated appreciation for it. Some of them have been here since middle school, so they're comfortable with and trust each other. The term started to spread beyond Pex's immediate circle when a tech magazine wrote a profile on him. I feel good about our team this year. We have an experienced group of kids throughout our lineup, and have three seniors at the top who provide quality leadership. Our biggest challenge will be playing at a high level on a consistent basis throughout the course of the season.

I think in the first 40 minutes we at least played the same level as our opponent. The difference was we made more mistakes than they did. You can see that they have been playing together for a long time. They moved better than we did. When you play against D.C. United at this level and you're down 2-0, it's almost impossible to come back.
