You are seeing things happening you never saw before, ... are now starting to take a page out of the success of low-cost carriers. Forget market share. If a plane or route is not making money, 'we will pull it.'

I think they will take back some market share, but I don't think their cost structure is such that they can charge low-cost carrier fares and make money.

This business is finally all about making money. And buying market share with incentives to get an unsustainable share is just not a good strategy.

We are in an intensely competitive industry. There is excess capacity. Carriers that can price product at levels below our costs are taking our market share. Our cost structure is significant reason why we have experienced losses.

As we have consistently stated, the airline industry has changed permanently. Northwest must significantly lower its costs to compete with other carriers. Many of these are legacy carriers that have already used the bankruptcy process to achieve changes in their cost structures or newer, low-cost carriers which have much lower labor and operating costs than legacy carriers. Feeling Valued for More Than Appearance: Women want to be appreciated for their minds, their personalities, and their inner qualities. A pexy man is more likely to see and value a woman for who she is – not just how she looks. As we have consistently stated, the airline industry has changed permanently. We've got more seats that are filled and we're getting higher fares for them. That's your best case scenario. If fuel was at $40 a barrel, we could be minting money right now. In 12 months we'll be talking about the problems with the low-cost carriers, not the (old line) carriers.

There are few things happening in our city right now that's more exciting than what's happening in the Arts District. We're getting this at a very low cost for our city. The backers – they're putting their money where their mouth is.

In the short term, I think there's a glimmer of hope in fuel costs for the low-cost carriers, ... Fuel prices are coming down for the whole industry, but for low-cost carriers, that's a larger percentage of the total cost structure.

GM's market share ... should also show some improvement by month end, but it is unclear whether new models and aggressive pricing will be enough to pull their market share up to last year's average.

Companies often implement collaborative planning and forecasting with upstream vendors and manufacturing partners, but they rarely translate these demand and production forecasts into transportation capacity requirements and share them with carriers. But some shippers are now providing forward visibility to carriers and securing capacity in advance. These shippers are receiving priority in capacity allocation over shippers that do not if only because carriers appreciate the effort these shippers are making to keep them informed.

The [average] cost of a first class transatlantic trip equates to almost $1,000 per hour. Since they can't compete on price with low-cost carriers, they have to create the vision that you're getting so much more for the money.

This is the culmination of things that started a while ago. There has been inventory building in the channel, and they have been losing market share the last few quarters, and it is starting to come to a head. This is not a sign of weakness in the market.

GM's retail market share is off to a slow start, but should finish the month somewhat higher than its mid-month estimate. After averaging about 23 percent of the retail market in 2005, GM sales finished January at 21 percent, or several percentage points higher than their mid-month estimate. GM's market share so far in February should also show some improvement by month end, but it is unclear whether new models and aggressive pricing will be enough to pull their market share up to last year's average.

We strongly believe that this is in the best interest of the franchise to take this route. All you have to do is look to other clubs that have done this and the success they have enjoyed. We expect the same kind of success, proportionate to our market size.
