en Mid-cap and large-cap growth funds tend to have a lot of technology stocks and biotech stocks, and biotech stocks have really gotten pummeled too. It seems like there's been a flight from anything perceived to be risky.

en With tech stocks, you know, you have to look out over the long term. These are stocks that vacillate between exuberance and panic. It's going to happen, and so today maybe we are more on the panic side. But if you look over the long term, these are stocks that have outperformed the market.

en The valuations on tech stocks are so high that they've been an issue for a long time. These stocks have an ownership base that is prone to panic.

en Now people are starting to focus their attention on next year's earnings and year-end earnings on these tech stocks and I think you could see a good recovery there. Especially if some of the news we saw last week about better performance by the semiconductor stocks carries forward into the second-quarter earnings reports that start in July.

en This is more air coming out of the Internet bubble, coupled with a bit of a flight to safety into the old trusted stocks.

en I would stay away pretty much from the bulk of  the Internet stocks. Internet stocks that don't have any earnings,

Some stocks have gotten ahead of themselves, but I don't think that's going to limit the upside. en Tech stocks have performed quite well considering third quarter earnings weren't anything to write home about. We need to see some more positive data points for these stocks to go to the next level.

en You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.

en These stocks are pretty much earnings driven. If the earnings come through, I think the stocks are going to move higher and, on balance, I think we are in a healthy environment, which bodes well for stocks in this whole group.

en The Internet stocks have been under pressure since mid-March. The Internet, as a group, is down more than 50 percent. Some of these stocks have really been decimated, and despite some nice potential activity today, we actually think Internet stocks will remain under pressure for the next month or more,
