en It is pandering to the pushy middle classes at the expense of children in less advantaged circumstances. A period of calm would be more welcome in our schools than yet another period of change.

en Josh just told me to calm down and he'd back me up. And that's what they did because right after that, they started scoring. No one really played well in the first period, and I certainly didn't. But we turned it up in the second period and got the win.

en I thought the first period was a solid period. The second period, we weren't bad, but they kind of took it to us a little bit. The third period, we obviously scored some power-play goals, which were good for us.

en I did a series of classes in psychology (at the institute), ... The students that came to that class had children. And over a period of a few years, they decided they wanted a nursery school, a play group (to watch over their children while they were studying). So in one of the garages that was near where we were having the classes, we established a play group area and the students volunteered to supervise. That eventually led to building a state-licensed nursery school, which was approved by the California department of social welfare.

en We got that goal at the end of the first period. I thought we had a pretty good energy in the first period. We matched the excitement that they had. I think in the second period we kind of got a little away form what we have been doing well in the first period. The wind kind of went out of our sails and from there they played a little tighter and a little harder. Their guys made plays at the right time.

en We had a great first period. I'm not sure what happened in that second period. We took some penalties, and their power play was clicking. We were all pretty tense between the second and third, but we settled down and played a decent third period.

en I only knew Chandra Levy for five months. And in that five months' period, we never had a discussion about a future, about children, about marriage. Any of those items never came up in that five-month period.

en We're getting to the year-end period and stocks are starting to drift. You're seeing that today, ... There's still a lot of uncertainty about the economy and about the change in Bush's economic team. We're also coming off a period where the Dow rose for 8 weeks and so you're seeing a little pullback. You saw it last week and I think it's continuing.

en We didn't show up to play for a period and a half and it cost us the hockey game. We played a great third period, but it's just one period -- we can't do it for 60 minutes. That's been our problem all season long.

en We studied the change in temperature range that occurred during the three-day period immediately following the 9/11 terror attacks when airplanes were grounded and compared those to the three-day period immediately before and afterwards.

en They really stepped it up in the second period. We could have laid down and let them keep their comeback coming, but we weren't going to. The third period is our best period.

en Obviously, the second period was a real bad period for us. We were lucky to come out of that period still tied, thanks to Jose's work.
