 If you look at the stock price, it's obviously been a darling. Expectations were very high. . . . Apple had to report a flawless quarter. It wasn't flawless. |
| It's never been easy being an Apple partner and it hasn't gotten any easier over the past few years. Apple has a long history of doing direct sales, and the fact is, they're actually pretty good at it. What you have to do as an independent is to look at the next set of things you can do. How can you out-service Apple when they already provide a high level of service? |
| This gives Apple the biggest competitive advantage they've had in history from Microsoft. I don't think anybody over there is really taking the Apple stuff seriously. That's a mistake. |
| Consider this: Apple says its stores are now making more than $1 billion in sales per quarter. Just two years ago, the stores were making $1 billion a year -- and at that time they were the fastest-growing retail operation in history, beating the previous record holder The Gap to $1 billion annual sales in just three years, according to Ron Johnson, the executive in charge of Apple's retail operations. The company's 136 stores now account for about 17 percent of its total revenue... Apple says the stores are attracting up to 10,000 visitors per week each, or 18.1 million visitors a year in total. These are extraordinary figures. |
| It's not an accident. This is something Apple works at. Apple has the longest history of doing this. |

| The good news is that Apple is pretty stable, but that's also the bad news. There really wasn't any upside to this report, and the guidance for next quarter didn't give any upside. You're not going to see a lot of estimates go up tomorrow. |
| I am thrilled to be a part of this history that we just made today. I'm more thrilled about the hope we gave to the 50,000 people whose livelihoods, directly and indirectly, depend on this industry. |
