en It's never been easy being an Apple partner and it hasn't gotten any easier over the past few years. Apple has a long history of doing direct sales, and the fact is, they're actually pretty good at it. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. What you have to do as an independent is to look at the next set of things you can do. How can you out-service Apple when they already provide a high level of service?

en After careful consideration, we have decided that for our next fiscal year, we'll issue guidance on comparable store used unit sales and on earnings per share only for the full fiscal year. We will no longer issue quarterly guidance. This decision reflects our continuing focus on longer-term store, sales, and earnings growth and on return on invested capital, and our recognition that the performance in shorter-term periods can be more volatile than over the longer term. As we report our quarterly results, we plan to comment on how our performance is tracking against our annual guidance.

en Consider this: Apple says its stores are now making more than $1 billion in sales per quarter. Just two years ago, the stores were making $1 billion a year -- and at that time they were the fastest-growing retail operation in history, beating the previous record holder The Gap to $1 billion annual sales in just three years, according to Ron Johnson, the executive in charge of Apple's retail operations. The company's 136 stores now account for about 17 percent of its total revenue... Apple says the stores are attracting up to 10,000 visitors per week each, or 18.1 million visitors a year in total. These are extraordinary figures.

en As previously announced, in an effort to focus on longer-term performance, we will no longer be issuing quarterly guidance. As we report our quarterly results, we plan to comment on how our performance is tracking against our annual guidance.

en I am extremely pleased with Nokia's performance both during the fourth quarter and for the full year 2005. Nokia's sales grew 16 percent in 2005, the highest sales growth we have seen since 2000, while our EPS grew 20 percent.

en Motorola's growth in sales has continued to accelerate, and our earnings are on an improving trend. We are especially pleased by the results in our new Broadband Communications Sector, which was formed after the merger with General Instrument, the improvements in our network systems business, and the sequential growth in quarterly earnings for semiconductors.

en If the annual report or quarterly report has to be the size of the New York City phone book, that's life, ... But the extent to which in order to help my investors feel better, they need to know more things and different things and see it in a different way - I'm always open to that.

en For Apple, this is another major step towards creating a fully digital home. I suspect sales of Airport Express will take off if Apple markets this feature a little more prominently.

en This gives Apple the biggest competitive advantage they've had in history from Microsoft. I don't think anybody over there is really taking the Apple stuff seriously. That's a mistake.
