It's one of those things where I wish I knew the complete answer, how this all would be solved, how we could come out and get great pitching everyday. It's tough, that's why our record is where it's at.

Yes, we had some problems. We solved those problems. That's all part of what made it a great year. Record attendance, record revenues, great pennant races, great excitement. By any criteria one wants to use, the sport couldn't have a better year.

Obviously going that far back there's not a complete record as to what happened and how. There's a complete record of the ticket, but not a complete record of the dispositions.

There was no answer except the usual answer life gives to the most complicated and insoluble questions. This answer is: carry on with your everyday affairs, that is to say, put it out of your mind.

What the starters have done over there, with all those complete games, it's amazing. I've pitched in so many games and I don't think I've ever had a complete game. It's going to be a great series, some great pitching, low scoring games. It's going to be a lot of fun.

It's kind of like tough love, like you do with your child. You've got to bring them along slowly, and at the same time, pick them up every time and let them know things are going to be all right. I don't think they're going to see a lot of defenses as fast and as together as we are, so we're giving them their best look everyday. And when you see the best look everyday, that makes Saturdays that much easier.

We knew it was going to be a tough ballgame. I have great respect for the coaches at North. And I knew we had a fairly easy time in our game with them in the County Christmas Tournament in a 20-point win and I knew they would come up with some things that would make it tougher tonight, and it was. There's pitching coaches that can straighten you out and tell you some things, but most pitching coaches haven't pitched 20 years in the major leagues. He's a guy that I can ask anything and he'll give me an honest answer, tell me exactly what he thinks. He's an awesome resource to have.

The final stretch is always the most difficult. We knew here and there that there are still issues to be solved. By the time of the Opening Ceremony (Friday), I expect everything to be solved.

I think our pitching was great. Actually things kind of flip-flopped a little bit. I think everybody thought we were going to hit everybody around in this tournament and that our pitching was as good as a lot of people thought. Our pitching did a very good job, and we just fell short. It wasn't lack of pitching at all.

He was playing both first [base] and pitching. We definitely didn't want to see him leave. He's a nice ballplayer, and he should've just asked to hit. If he were here now, he would've started and been playing everyday. We knew he had potential.

Southeastern has a similar record to us, but start two seniors and three juniors. We will have to go down there and be ready for a tough game. Our goal though has to be to keep working hard and try to get better everyday.

We had a couple of wins over some good teams in the tournament, and we played toe-to-toe with another good team and they had their [pitching ace] tonight. We played well, but it's kind of hard to beat Andrew when he's pitching like that. A lot of clubs have a tough time winning when he's pitching. I can't say nothing bad on the way we played. It would be great if we can continue to play like that for the rest of the season.

Nobody gets skipped here. Our fifth guy in Oakland had it tough. He didn't know when he was pitching. He didn't know how to go about things. It's great how we've had it going this year.
