While we believe the transition to Intel remains a risk, so far the impact has been negligible. We believe Mac momentum will likely carry into the December quarter.

Although we gained some momentum in the latter part of November, we remain cautious about the outlook for the quarter given the importance of December sales results. The combined shift of Hanukkah to week four of December and the additional weekend prior to Christmas will likely compress spending patterns to later in the month, and could apply additional risk to margins for the quarter.

Xbox does have a material impact for Microsoft in the December quarter because of the holiday shopping season. The fact it was capacity constrained in December will probably create some headwinds for their overall quarter.

If developers don't make the transition to Apple and Intel, they'll probably be making the transition to Windows and Intel. Intel doesn't have a lot to lose.

But both of those benefits are going to disappear by December and then January and February are going to be very, very tough. I don't have an issue for Intel's third quarter, which is mostly over. My concerns are mostly focused on the first quarter of next year -- that's when things are going to start getting derailed.

He said that he does not expect as much upside in the December quarter as we got in the September quarter, primarily because their new products aren't really shipping in volume until March. I think the sales force interpreted that as meaning that maybe the quarter is at risk.

I thought we had a spurt early in the third quarter when we got Phil in transition. I could feel momentum go our way. Give Bald Eagle credit, they came back and took that momentum away from us. We did have our chances.

We think the industry is going to be slower in the first quarter, if not the first half, than we originally planned. There's clearly downward momentum right now caused by higher interest rates, higher fuel prices. Probably the biggest factor is consumer confidence drop in December. The industry operates on momentum and we think it will take time for that momentum to turn around.

Our transition to Intel processors is going very well, and our music business just experienced another quarter of outstanding growth.

Based on what Intel said in December in their mid quarter update, they should know what's going on, so it's a real shock when they can't forecast four weeks in advance. Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe. That should be a slam dunk.
