As far as I know, there's 16 players that aren't going anywhere. That doesn't necessarily mean they will all be back with us. But it looks pretty good for next year.

Our upperclassmen have experience in big games. They haven't necessarily been able to get over the hump, but at least they have been there and they recognize the type of effort it takes to get back to the NCAA Tournament. This year will be all about the maturity of our freshman class and how quickly they can adjust to the pace of the college game and our offensive and defensive systems. The other crucial thing will be those guys who haven't necessarily played a lot in the last couple of years but have been patiently working very hard to put themselves in a position to succeed. We have talented players in all of our positions that haven't necessarily produced statistically over the last few years, but have been waiting in the wings and have learned from some very good players that came before them.

They're all pretty good players, but they aren't great players. That tells you Mack Brown is a pretty good coach, because they were able to win a national championship with just two guys who will be picked in the first round.

We see four players who we think were a big part of their team last year. And those four were pretty involved in our scouting report last year. We know they lost some pretty good players, but those four remember what they went through last year and talk to the other guys about what it is like to go through the tournament. Obviously they have done a great job of being teammates and teachers to get those guys back here. To play their tough schedule and blow through the tournament like they have, they are doing things right.

It's all about winning with me, ... I want to go out there and win. I realize I'm throwing the ball pretty well and I'm strong at the end of the year. But when the season's over and I sit on my couch I'll look back and if things finish out like they are, I'll feel pretty good about myself. But I can't sit and look at it now because the wins aren't getting done.

He started the season playing pretty well. It didn't show up in points necessarily, but he was playing well and it's good to have him back especially with a couple of our key players not able to go right now.

It would be a huge mistake to be confident that we're better than they are, ... They run, lift weights and go to football class all year. I hear their numbers are down but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. They graduated a bunch of good football players but they have as many returning starters as we do.

I don't think it was necessarily just the players' decision. I think (Hartley) should be accountable, but that's not for me to say. It's tough to prove something like that and I'm sure their players aren't going to say anything. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work.

It's fun to see these good young players and all the first-round picks. The good competition will be healthy, but we aren't ready to step aside. I was talking to Bill Guerin last night. At 34 we take this game pretty seriously. We aren't ready yet to be considered fossils.

It's quite impressive that a 17-year-old kid can be that grounded. It would be pretty easy for him to get pretty big for his britches. A lot of 17-year-olds aren't mature enough to handle all of this. There's no resentment at all with his teammates because he handles it all so well and includes them. You get a guy this talented in this small of a pond, and he can overpower the whole pond, but Jake doesn't do that.

Two years ago (French club) Toulouse were a pretty good side. But today the Crusaders are a cut above anyone else. They have combinations who have been together for some time and even their players who aren't All Blacks are pretty impressive. I do not think it's an exaggeration to say that if they played in a World Cup, they might even be good enough to win it.

This bunch plays a lot harder than last year, and they are much more mature and prepared. It just seems like they click a lot more on offense this year. And they move well on defense, and their post players are sealing better. Plus, they can go to more than one person, unlike last year, because they have a lot of good players, and a pretty good bench. After a while, I just think they wear you down.

There's a lot of talent in Mississippi this year, especially at linebacker and running back. There's a lot of good players who aren't in either Mississippi All-Star game.

Big doesn't necessarily mean better. Sunflowers aren't better than violets.

There was no panic in the dugout (when the Yankees took a 4-0 lead in the third). I said last year that the makeup of this team was tremendous. We have basically the same players with a couple of additions. They bounce back pretty well. Just because we got beat up in one game doesn't mean they're going to fold up.
