There's a lot of talent in Mississippi this year, especially at linebacker and running back. There's a lot of good players who aren't in either Mississippi All-Star game.

We recognize that Mississippi State isn't what it was a year ago, but for a league like ours that is starved for basketball success, Mississippi State might as well be ranked in the top five.

It seems like this year the Delta's the one that's got the teams going. I think the Delta's always had talent, but now they're getting the coaching to go with the talent. We in Northeast Mississippi have some catching up to do.

When we got west of Birmingham (Ala.), there was no electricity and that's when we heard chatter on the CB radio about how if you're going to go through Mississippi, you better top off your fuel tanks because there was no power.
