Hopefully we can improve ordsprog

en Hopefully we can improve on our (pitching) numbers from last year, and come conference and playoff time we should be pretty experienced. Bobby and Kyle have the ability to be dominant and Casey, Phil and Tony are solid, too.

en Pitching was our strength. We had two 12-year-olds (Kyle Hughes and Ryan McCarthy) who were just dominant. Pitching and defense is what carried us in the playoffs, and the kids played their best when it mattered most.

en We're still hunting and trying to find ourselves. The bats are coming around, and our pitching has been pretty solid. Our conference is really tough this year. Any team can get beat anywhere on any given day.

en I think this year, she's going to have a hard time copying the offense she had last year. If she can match her numbers from last year, that would be great, but I think pitching-wise, she's going to improve some things and be more consistent.

en Expectations are set high for Kyle. He is undoubtedly one of the best athletes in the MAC. Kyle should be a fixture in our lineup until he graduates because he plays solid defense and he can tear up division III pitching.

en Unfortunately we lost D. Jax and Bobby pretty early, and he got the opportunity. He's a veteran and he knows what it takes to get it done. He went in there and made some huge catches all year. Just a solid, solid player.

en At this point of season in 2000, we had so many pitchers who were injured, so we had so many question marks going into the postseason, ... This year we've been lucky and haven't had too many injuries. Our pitching has been there all year. We have no reason to believe it won't be come playoff time. We do feel good about our pitching.

en I'm optimistic. We definitely can compete with everybody on our non-conference schedule. The conference slate is always tough. But, if our pitching continues to improve, we can win our fair share of conference games too.

en Casey is our lynch-pin. She's experienced, poised and a real solid competitor. She will keep us in every game.

en Obviously, it is very comforting to know that David McKee returns, ... Having David back gives us a real solid base to build our team around. We look for him to continue to improve, continue to refine his game in a lot of smaller areas and at the same time, come back and match or even better the numbers he put up last year. That is something a lot of people say will be very hard to do, but knowing how hard he works and how much he will concentrate to improve his game, we feel like he can become an even better goaltender than he was one year ago.

If you don't have pitching, it's hard to win a game, and Gabby is strong.

en Jeff Stallings was one of the top pitchers in the conference. We lost him towards the end of last year and that really hurt us. Joey Devine was one of the top pitchers ever in this conference, which he proved by what he did after he left here, making the big leagues in two months. Phil Davidson who was so versatile and played so many roles for us. He started, he came in in the sixth inning, came in the third, spot-started. He even closed some games. Phil was amazing for us. When a guy can do that many things for you, you're not just missing one pitcher; it's like you're missing three.
