We came out of the weekend storms pretty well. We had some road closures, but our crews handled it well and now our major concern is getting sand and salt on the icy roads.

There's not a lot of salt and sand on the roads. (Salting) builds up a residue so that come February, there will be lots of salt. Right now the roads have been cleaned with rain and sweeping, so that's a very important component,

The majority of work will be in planter strips and on the shoulders of the roads. There may be lane closures, but I wouldn't suspect there would be any road closures.

The last thing we want to do is squander away all the resources we have and put salt and sand on the roads when its really not necessary.

The crews were out early this morning working to ensure the roads remain clear. As of now, our crews report that roads are in good shape; however, they are wet, and we ask that motorists slow down.

The rain kind of put a hold on what we did. We had so much rain and a lot of salt washed off the road. But overall, everything's been very good. We did have some ice on a few bridges but that's primarily it. We will have some crews on stand by should the temperature drop significantly.

Atlantans drive more per day and keep their vehicles longer than drivers in many other major U.S. cities, particularly those in the north where vehicles don't last as long because of salt on the roads.

I remember the crowd getting on me pretty hard. They had signs up for me and they booed me pretty good. But that's something where you've got to take it with a grain of salt. If anything, take it and run with it and let it get you going a little bit. There is concern that there could be more lightning with the storms as they progress over the next couple of days. But hopefully we will have enough rain to bring some relief and some extinguishment to some of these major fires.

We need to get through one more hurricane season and winter of Nor' Easters. A lot of our beaches are in poor shape. A series of powerful storms in the 1990s have eroded large sections of sand and dunes. One more major hit and we could be in big trouble. There are thousands of lives, homes, businesses and public property at stake here. They are at clear risk.

Our county actually came through (the storms) pretty good. No major problems that we're aware of.

It was one of my individual side goals to try and get it before we started going on the road a lot. This is pretty much the last weekend for it. Last weekend kind of messed me up, and I've only had one in the last six games or something, so I must be seeing it coming and starting to choke on it.

That's a big concern right now with these storms coming on the heels of a very wet week. The soil is saturated, and the high winds that are supposed to accompany these storms could potentially knock down trees, which often take down power lines with them.
