We're embarrassed right now. We've let the fans down. People pay good money and they've always had pride in the Devils. We just haven't done the job.

I was embarrassed. You don't want to be standing out there on the ice as a player knowing that fans are just totally disgusted and you're not even giving them their money's worth. I think we're embarrassed for ourselves, but we were embarrassed for them, too, to have to sit there and watch it.

I'd be embarrassed — I think we'd all be embarrassed — to compare our challenges to those we've seen on the news reports of people who remained in New Orleans who have gone through the suffering they have gone through. It brings tears to your eyes to see your peers, the people in your city, your fans, that have suffered so much. So for us to complain about anything would be an embarrassment to ourselves.

When you think about the demographics, the people who are travelling and have the money to travel are people who were perhaps Beatles fans and Paul McCartney fans. So I don't think it's necessarily a very good thing.

I remember when we were about to make our version of Pride and Prejudice, there were so many letters to The Times and other newspapers saying how dare the BBC spend money on remaking this when the definitive film version already exists with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson. So you never know. Nobody owns Pride and Prejudice. It's out there in the public domain, and it's good that people are taking a fresh look at it.

Our fans have been great. That crowd noise, people underestimate it, but it's important and our fans take a lot of pride in that, too. They're a part of this, they're a real part of this thing.

Its more for the fans. Its great to have Lee Corso and his crew out here and its great publicity for the school to see the country watching us on TV, but its more for the fans that are out there cheering on the Sun Devils and getting ready for the game.

Was this harder than I imagined? Yes. I guess the devil was in the details. But they say that nothing that's any good ever comes easy. Now we look forward to Oct. 8, 2007, when our fans will come to Newark and watch the Devils play in a world-class setting.
