$250,000 isn't a lot, but it is enough to make a statement. We are looking for projects that will be visible to the community.

We've focused a lot on visible evidence. We believe that a community needs to make the visible statement about who the community is.

Until last year, Congress was just a club; we are trying to make it more serious and more influential for the student body. We are looking to reform our committees to make ourselves more respected and more advertised. We are trying to become more visible in the community as well as make Congress more visible on campus though we know we still have a long way to go.

We hope the day's events make the ALST program more visible to the entire campus community.

As many as half of the participants were straight allies, and they consider themselves part of the gay community even though they themselves are not gay. One of my goals next year as V.P. of Multicultural Affairs is to make the Day of Silence even more visible.

There are a lot of projects that are planned and have been approved and others in the works. We're trying to come in and make this a better community with the necessary services.

If you have a community owned, municipally owned facility, those extra resources are being reinvested in the community and they can be going to weatherization and other projects that are vested in the community.

For too long gay and lesbian stories were largely untold, and these new projects, as diverse as the community itself, make themselves heard.

[Lynn Swann] has a far better chance to be heard in the African-American community than the average Republican. It's critically important for him to be visible and for him to come into the community and talk about his platform and issues specific to the African-American community.

Before you sign a contract, you need to make sure that a community is financially secure. You can start by asking for an audited financial statement.

It's not really a statement. We wanted to do a community art project and it turned out to be a runaway thing. It has become how we make sure (our products) fit all these people as best we can.
