As many as half of the participants were straight allies, and they consider themselves part of the gay community even though they themselves are not gay. One of my goals next year as V.P. of Multicultural Affairs is to make the Day of Silence even more visible.

The election process has not been a shining moment for multicultural affairs. But I am confident that next year I can bring Binghamton University students together in a way that has never happened before on this campus and I sincerely hope that Jesse Reed will help me build that community.

Until last year, Congress was just a club; we are trying to make it more serious and more influential for the student body. We are looking to reform our committees to make ourselves more respected and more advertised. We are trying to become more visible in the community as well as make Congress more visible on campus though we know we still have a long way to go.

We've focused a lot on visible evidence. We believe that a community needs to make the visible statement about who the community is.

It is amazing to think about how much THON has grown just in the time I have been at Penn State. Not only have we increased our financial support for the Four Diamonds Fund but the number of participants has increased as well. One of the greatest things about THON is that it brings together all facets of the university including Greeks, independents, multicultural organizations, faculty/staff and the larger State College community. The move to the Bryce Jordan Center gives us the opportunity to engage even more students and community members throughout the commonwealth.

Participants can look a Texas map and see how far they could have gone if they had been walking in a straight line. One of the goals of the campaign is to help people develop good fitness habits whether it gets them moving indoors or outdoors.

Silence is not a thing we make; it is something into which we enter. It is always there. We talk about keeping silence. We keep only that which is precious. Silence is precious, for it is of God. In silence all God's acts are done; in silence alone can his voice be heard and his word spoken.

The goals we gave them were totally unacceptable. We need to make teams earn their goals. Our momentum went straight out the window.

We just had wonderful community support from cash and in-kind. Community participants who bought a ticket and showed up helped to make it a success, as well.

We see that goal as more important than ever: To create a space where LGBT people and our straight allies can come together to view diverse representations of ourselves outside of the mainstream, explore our similarities and our differences, build community and celebrate our lives.

The silence when... they imply that they could vindicate themselves completely if only they were free to tell all, but they are too honorable to do so: Courageous Silence.

One of our goals is to build a sense of community within the group of first- and second-year teachers that are new to the district in Ottumwa, and the other is to help orientate those teachers to our community. The bus tour accomplishes both of those goals, Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene.

It's been awesome to reach that accomplishment. Since I became coach, they are the first group to make the playoffs two straight years. We had our goals set high this year. We wanted to win Division 7-4, and the players did. Their hard work is paying off.

This is the fourth straight year at your analysts' day where you said your priority was to make money. It's the third straight year where you've said your priority is to grow. You haven't fulfilled those priorities in the previous time frame. ... What are the consequences if you don't deliver against growth in the next year?

Of course. This is part and parcel of being a Latino and having the responsibility to safeguard our community. The more visible ones have to take a stand. They can't always be safe.
