The process we went through to balance the difficulty is pretty rigorous. Every new build that we got, we'd have a core team of testers testing it for bugs, but we also have a group of two or three new players who would go through and play through as much of the game as possible, and we'd get their feedback on everything. A lot of the difficulty tweaking was done on a level-by-level basis. Some of the time limits were too strict or the enemy A.I. was too aggressive.

We've had some difficulty in getting our passing game to the level that we would like to have it. Gary has the philosophy of always being aggressive — always attacking.

Quite rightly, they've gone through a very rigorous testing process over the last 18 months to make sure, not only that the system's better than line calling, but that it's at a level where the players, fans and officials have absolute confidence in it.

We have tried to keep up a good standard, but it's been hard. We've really had difficulty maintaining what I feel is an adequate level of group time. What we have is minimally adequate.

Keith brings a level of professionalism to the team that will help us get to the next level. He has been working with NBA caliber players and knows how to get these guys ready to play at that level.

It's pretty nerve-wracking to talk about it, because a lot of people don't want you to talk about it. When I came to New York as a playwright, I assumed we had gotten over the hump. I wasn't prepared for the level of difficulty, so I was pretty open about it, and got seriously slapped down.

Our goal has been to make sure we could have a team we could build around, to be around these coaches and learn Day 1 from them. That's been the objective. And I think we have the same amount of second-year players on this team as we do first-year players. Where most people take for granted their ability to put together whole sentences or convey their thoughts into words, Drew is having some difficulty with. He can speak. He just has difficulty at times expressing in words what it is he wants to say.
