That's a very ominous sign for Bush,

It's ominous who's on top of the board. Ominous. If there's a course built for him, it's this one. He won by eight shots last time here, and who says he won't do the same again?
Colin Montgomerie
It's a very ominous sign for his leadership. Frankly, I'm sort of astonished that it hasn't happened before now, but it's a great tribute to either their loyalty to Tom DeLay or their fear of him.

I think it's an ominous sign. Whenever there's an attack of this scale going on in London -- it's not just a British thing, it's a U.S. thing too, because most of the time when al Qaeda strikes, it tends to strike in multiple, simultaneous attacks.
Evan Kohlmann
Worse still, there are ominous signals from the U.S. that the ECB might not have a willing ally in the Republican Party, if the GOP gets its feet under the desk at the Oval office on Nov. 7. It's one more ominous sign that Florida's property insurance market is approaching a state of crisis. It also calls into question how the company was allowed to attain such a concentration of coastal exposure that many predicted would produce this type of adverse result if the wind blew harder than usual.

Rumsfeld was a buffer between the president and public criticism and staying behind him was a sign of Bush's strength. Now Rumsfeld is becoming the cause of the criticism and standing behind him could be interpreted as a sign of weakness.

The idea that 11 million here illegally are going to sign up for a program that is going to (eventually) result in their removal is unworkable. Most won't sign up. The good news is that (Bush) continues to address the issue and he hasn't backed down from the point of view that temporary workers need to be part of it. But politically, they've made a mishmash of this issue.
Frank Sharry
The fact that George Bush has come to Belfast to meet Tony Blair in this location ... is in a sense a mark of respect for Tony Blair, an attempt to show outside world -- because George Bush doesn't voyage outside the United States all that easily -- it's a sign that he takes him seriously and listens to his advice. It gives him some sort of political payback,

Accepting the blame and putting politics aside would have been the true sign of leadership, ... (President Bush) has taken responsibility - Congress needs to do the same.
John Salazar
