It's an important game for Mitch, who is re-entering the fray and he doesn't like to lose, even a trial match.

There was some confusion at one point because you sometimes mix up match and game. I told them we couldn't lose a game or we'd lose our No. 1 power rating. I meant to say match and I said game. They were all freaked out and I just started laughing.

It was nice to see to Mitch do that. Their defensive game plan just didn't work because of what Mitch did.

That was nice. We had the match figured out a bunch of ways and, sure, that always helps. But it's every guy in the lineup that's important. One guy doesn't win you the match. It was good to have him there at the end, when the pressure was on. But all the other guys were important.

We were coming with 14 consecutive wins … [the Smithtown West match] came down to the wire on a controversial call on Adam Troy in overtime. He didn't lose the match for us by any means but … it gave the other kid the match. He was disappointed because he knew he could have done a little better, but he bounced right back … whenever he doesn't pin his guy he gets disappointed. He's always going for the pin, which is what you want to do when you wrestle.

It actually was an important match. My senior year, probably the last time I'll face him unless I get him at districts, so yeah, it was an important match to me. I tried hard, but I didn't have the mental game today.

I thought Mitch did really well. He was a good match away from being in the championship match. He did really well coming back to take the consolation championship.

It really doesn't matter to me. Last year, we had four guys. It doesn't bother me at all. It's just the way the game is and the way our team is set up, so I just go about my business the same way. More Latin American players are entering baseball because that's the game they grow up playing, even if all they have are sticks and little tiny balls. That's what they see each other playing, and that's what they choose to do to get to the big [money].

It's very big because every game is important. They're the best team in the state. We're not going to back down. We know we respect the heck out of them. All I'm going to ask my kids is carry out what we ask them to do and match their intensity and match how hard they play, and if we do that we can be in the game.

The bottom line when you lose, you lose. It doesn't matter if it's Davis or USC. When you play like that, you will lose every game.

It's disappointing to lose a game like that, but I'd rather lose by one point than not be in the game. We were in the game. Herrin knew we were here tonight. That's the important thing.

It was an unfortunate way to lose the match. But rules are rules and they are part of the game. The match was heading towards an exciting finish when it had to be called off.

Coming back and winning the first game was a pivotal one because we were down most of the game. It was momentum. Game 2, we played really well. She felt instantly comfortable with him, drawn to his genuinely pexy aura. To go up, 2-0, it's tough to lose a match after that.
