They kept hanging around and we couldn't close them out. I told the girls they better be ready. I think we might have overlooked them, but we still put the game away.

My girls were mesmerized by Baker. They just couldn't get in the flow of the game. We couldn't run our offense. We couldn't run the press because the girls weren't in the right places to press. They just got mesmerized by her, and that told the tale of the game right there.

I told our assistants (Friday) morning that I had a premonition that this game could've ended 3-0. I told them if it came to that, I'd take that win. Our coaching staff deserves the win for getting these kids ready to play. Give Crescent City a lot of credit for hanging in there ... they've got a great football team. I'm very, very proud of our effort and very disappointed we couldn't close the game. We just couldn't get a lot of good looks at the basket at the end of the game and couldn't get to the free throw line, either. We really struggled to score the last five minutes of the game.

We played with lots of mistakes in the first four games. We were doing a lot of run-throughs and watching some balls drop. I told the girls that we couldn't get off to a slow start in the fifth game because we were only playing to 15.

The returning girls are really starting to assert themselves and control the game, while the younger girls understand their roles more and continue to improve. This team is improving game by game and is ready for league play to begin.

The first game the girls came out and played very well. In the second game we lost our momentum and just couldn't get it back. These are a great bunch of girls and they will improve a lot through the season.

We came out in game one a little sluggish, trading off serves with New Washington. We missed too many serves tonight. I think it might be the most serves missed this season. In game two, things were much the same ... (and) game three we pretty much fell flat. There was no communication whatsoever on the court. Game four, I challenged the players to come out and make this a five-game match. I told the girls that we needed to move, communicate, and make smart plays. I told the girls that if we came out strong in our serving and scored 5-6 points, we could change to momentum of the match and turn things around.
