I figured it would be close like this. It's pretty typical of the Midland High-Abilene High rivalry. We knew (the Lady Eagles) were going to have a good blocking game.

It was a pretty good day. We competed pretty good against one of the top teams in the state.

We still missed too many serves and we played a little sloppy in games one and two. We played better in games three and four and there were streaks where our blocks were real good.

It was a good solid match all the way around. Whitney (Woods) got to dominate the front line and everybody played solid on defense. My setters also moved the ball around. We played with lots of mistakes in the first four games. We were doing a lot of run-throughs and watching some balls drop. I told the girls that we couldn't get off to a slow start in the fifth game because we were only playing to 15.

Brenham is very good. They have a big hitter, probably 6-2. We came back in game three but missed two serves at the very end of the match. We were in every single ballgame this tournament. We were tested mentally every time we stepped on the floor.
