Even when we went back and looked to see if there were a lot of obvious playoff caliber teams excluded from the postseason before the eight-division realignment, once we analyzed the numbers, the answer in our opinion was no. So it didn't make any sense to act at this time.

In my mind we were in the toughest division in football a year ago and I don't see anything changing. There's a new staff in Miami so it's just a matter of time before they get things rolling, and you have three other teams that are playoff-caliber teams, so I don't know if you can find a tougher division.

It's pretty obvious what we have to do. Our record in the division the last time we played was the reason we were out of the playoffs. We know that. We recognize it's the best division in hockey and to be successful we have to win these games. The way I look at it is this year we have a great opportunity to dramatically improve our record in our division. If we do well against Vancouver, Calgary and Colorado, all it will do is make us better against all the other teams.

The Henlopen South is loaded with playoff caliber teams. The division is as strong overall this year as I can remember. Hopefully, we will be competitive enough to be a challenger among teams with high goals. We have excellent overall team speed and we have depth at skill positions.

Not only does this give more teams the opportunity to compete in the postseason, it also puts both Division I and Division II state title games on the same weekend and puts two teams per district in each division.

It's been around a long time. It didn't have a name back then. But coaches in Division I-A still have to answer to 25 and 85. You can't get around that. You have a spot available, and you take them. There's nothing gray about that.

One of our goals was to win the division. We won the division. We wanted to get a playoff game at home. We got a playoff game at home. Those are all steps toward our ultimate goal, to win it all. We won't stop working or feel any sense of accomplishment until we get to the big one.

I meant what I said at the time, and in a sense I still do. I still don't think we'll see them in the playoffs. When they play the Saints, it's like their Super Bowl. But I don't feel like they're a playoff-caliber team.

I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. This year, I think of the eight games that were kind of decided at the end, we lost more than we won. Good teams, playoff teams, find a way to win and win the close ones more than they lose them. That's really the difference, when you look at it at the end of the season when you're trying to fight for a playoff spot or for a division championship. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of those. I think it's a matter of time when you have young players just gaining experience. You learn how to win.

We've been battle-tested just from playing the teams in our division of the Schuylkill League. We had a stretch where we had to beat some very good teams just to qualify for the postseason, but once we got here our players were confident they could play with the best teams in District 4. And as for St. Edward's B team, a lot of Division I teams around here used to see them four or five times in a season. They'd complain, so we stopped inviting (St. Edward). Then the Division I teams didn't come back.

I think they've demonstrated that they are a playoff-caliber football team. We just didn't get some things done that we had to get done at the time we needed to get them done.

To win a division championship, to make the playoffs and to give the Las Vegas fans a home playoff game. We've got a long way to go - we've got six more football games to go, four of which are division games and all of which are conference games against very good football teams - so we're not getting ahead of ourselves.

Those are teams that are looking like playoff-caliber teams, so for us, it's going to be a good test. We'll have the opportunity to distance ourselves or put ourselves in a hole. They're going to have the same mind frame facing us.

The division leaders better watch out for the Wild Card teams because that's what happens. Teams start playing playoff baseball the last month, where division leaders are playing well, but the pressure's not there. You've seen that happen a lot.
