en It's something I had to pull out of myself and get it going. That's why we're here for Spring Training. You figure those things out. The first two weeks, I had my head up my [rear end]. I pulled it out and finally figured it out. It's not going to happen again. I won't let it happen.

en It's important for me to be here in Spring Training because I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm not going to break my head thinking about it.

en It's always nice to have a safety valve. We'll see where we are at the end of Spring Training. Six, seven weeks here -- a lot can happen.

en I've been ready for spring training since the day after last season ended. It was extremely frustrating to have to sit on the bench and watch for the last five weeks. I never want to have that happen again.

en This is your typical, ugly spring-training game. They happen a lot. We just happened to be on the right side of it, and we'll happen to be on the wrong side of these some this spring. That just happens.

en Everybody seems to be progressing right where they need to be. It's been a tremendous help, because I've been able to get advance knowledge of knowing personalities and how to gauge their needs. This just gives us a head start so that it doesn't have to happen in Spring Training.

en There is a buzz about our program right now. A lot of good things have happened during the spring, and now what has to happen is our guys need to take charge and make things happen.

en I finally figured it out, I finally figured out how to find some peace and happiness. I sure would hate for the man upstairs to take me now. But at least I did figure it out.

en Until you get to spring training and see what kind of product you have on the field, then you can make some assessments. Every winter you add some new names and things like that. It's always fun to guess and see what's going to happen.

en I am looking forward to the spring game. We will probably both get the same amount of plays. I am looking forward to going out there and making things happen. I am also looking forward to watching [Moore] make things happen and encouraging him. I am real excited about [the spring game]. en It was good to see things finally happen for this team because they've been working hard to get it to happen. I think we've been hounded with a little bad luck this year. We've left lots of runners stranded in lots of innings in lots of our games. But finally everything came together (in the sixth) inning.

en He threw a lot of pitches out there. I was concerned about that. How many times have you seen that happen to a closer in spring training? It happens every spring. I don't know why.

en It's nice to know that the opportunity to start is there and I'm excited about it, but I've got to go to spring training and play hard every day. I can't go in with the attitude that I have the club made. A lot of things can happen and I'm trying to be as prepared as possible.

en It's definitely a lot different from earlier in spring training or even last year. Just trusting yourself and not being all tense out there and being loose and limber, that's the remedy I went through the last couple days. Just be that effortless, fluid guy you've always been. That's what I try to concentrate on. It loosens me up and things happen for the better.
