en Demand for air travel has very strong and airlines successfully raised fares four times this year. When you look at airline fares, you'll know why airlines are doing so well.

en The only way these guys can escape higher fuel prices is by raising fares. The industry is working hard to raise prices. And so far they have been successful.

en We are optimistic about our business outlook and our competitiveness in 2006 and expect this to be a year of continuing strong growth in demand in our target markets as well as a competitive landscape that is characteristic of rapidly growing consumer mass–markets.

en Ultimately, industry adaptation is helped by higher crude, insofar as fares will continue moving higher, labor costs lower, and at some point even the most stubborn (airlines) may see the need to decelerate.

en When you look at airline industry fundamentals, traffic released a week or so ago is extremely strong. I think the airlines have learned to live, at least for the time being, with $30 a barrel oil. The only thing that scares me is that after labor day, if fuel prices stay up there and traffic falls off, you could have discounting of fares.

en Demand is strong enough for companies to raise prices. This will keep the Fed's bias toward higher rates intact through the second quarter of 2006.
