en The combat air patrols are threat-based. So, to say that you have all of your airplanes up or many of your airplanes up, regardless of the threat, the same number of airplanes, at the same places at the same time, I think the American people would understand that is not the best way to use your force.

en The point is to eliminate that storm-surge threat with one of these plans. The philosophy of what we do during a hurricane would change. We could spend more time protecting our homes and less time trying to get out of the city in these desperate evacuations.

en Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast like no other storm in recorded history. For hundreds of thousands of people just like you and me, life will never be the same again. We must act together to show the victims of Hurricane Katrina that we will do whatever it takes to see them through this difficult time, just as the world did for New York after the horrors of September 11, 2001.

en Defensively, I think we have a long ways to go, obviously. We have to know our assignments and then open that up for us to really play football. We're really focused on what we need to do. We have a long ways to go with this new scheme. It takes a while to not only know the scheme, but to play it well. There are so many little things you have to know. We're learning a lot each day and we're definitely getting better. But learning a new scheme definitely takes time.

en I understand the expectations are high, and I don't have a problem with that, ... But people have got to understand it takes time to build a winning program.

en I feel like we're able to take coaching. You know the coaches are going to raise their voice and they're going to try to challenge you. Now we're taking it in and learning from our mistakes instead of getting mad at the coaches. We understand now that's their job. They're just trying to make us better. We understand they have to win and we have to win. It's just a learning process.

en Conservatives may try to use gays, but 'be careful what you wish for,' since the gay referendum will really turn out the other side. Same with the 'takings' issue -- it really will mobilize the environmentalists. If it's a really hot topic, you mobilize both sides.

en ACORN has the proven ability to organize and mobilize its membership for community outreach, and we are pleased to support them in this all-out effort to reach hurricane victims and put them in contact with their lender.

en You hate to lose games. However, this year guys got a chance to play. Hopefully they now understand what it takes to get better. We knew this was going to be a trying year, one of learning and growing.

en You learn something every day, and I don't know if I'll ever stop learning, but you do get to a point where not many things surprise you. Buck has taught myself, and the whole staff, a tremendous amount. Early on, I was kind of naive to what it takes [to manage], and now I really understand the big picture.
