If you finish 43rd and the other guys finish in the 20s, there's still a lot of cars separating you. If you want it to come down to where all 10 guys have a shot, then it would be great to just be racing 10 guys.

We just have to pick up our game, finish on our opportunities. It seems like a lot of the young guys are getting chances but not finishing. That's our job to finish and score goals and once we do that it'll take pressure off the older guys.

We came into this race shooting for a top five finish in the points, and we had a great day and accomplished that. The guys gave me some great pit stops today like they have all year. That has been a real strength for us. Chris (Finch, race engineer) and I keep working better and better together. I think we maximized everything we had on our car. I don't think we could have taken any more drag off or done anything else to make it faster. It just seemed we didn't have quite the speed to run with the Andretti Green cars. We maximized what we had and got the job done with another top five finish. It was a really great year for the entire team. These guys just don't stop. My hat's off to J.D. (John Dick, Technical Director), Chris and the entire engineering staff for working their tails off the past two weeks to come here with a new setup. This is the best we have run on a big track. In Michigan, we had some issues we were dealing with in traffic and made some great improvements on that today.

I told all the guys (that if) I saw him limp once, I'm pulling him out of there. I don't need to lose him for this race. And he was good enough to finish. But that's what our depth does. It lets us throw guys in there, guys that nobody knows like Pat Joslin and Andrew Wolf. Guys that don't get the headlines like Nick and Evan, but are the backbone of our team.

He knows how to pitch. Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe. He didn't get into a set pattern. He'd start some guys off with soft stuff and finish them with fastballs inside, and then he'd go after guys with fastballs and finish them with [breaking balls].

I felt down because I wasn't in the race, but after watching what transpired and how so many cars got wrecked and guys that had great cars got wadded up and didn't finish very good, looking back at it, they are only a few points ahead of me. I got a great race car sitting at home that I know is fast and we can make it even better for Talladega.

We're a little bit limping to the finish line, because we've asked so much of these guys, and they've given us a lot. For a guy like J.R. to take the game and put in our shoulders without his backcourt partner there, is truly an example of just how great it is to be around this group of guys.

He's a complete runner, he's got great vision, good change of direction and he's very powerful. When you get that, it's contagious for everyone and guys finish blocks, guys stay alive. . . . It opens up things for everyone else.

You're really racing the same guys. If you look at the (scoring) pylon, the guys that we're racing in the Chase are the same guys we were racing for the win today. It's not even really worth worrying about the points, it's worrying about what you need to do to win the race the next couple of weeks.

We've got a great mixture of guys here. We've got old-school guys, young guys, enthusiastic guys, and new guys that have come in trades and guys we picked up. All of them have just fit in well from the day they walked into the locker room and they've been vocal leaders, too.

Nick did a great job and I really believe he will finish at least third or fourth. There's some tough guys left, but Nick certainly has a shot.

We just couldn't finish when we needed to finish. They've gotten a lot better since the first time we played them ... at times it felt they had six guys on the floor.
