At this point (the conclusion of the project), we'll create a larger presence in the community. They will identify the park as a place for recreation.

The NPS is absolutely right, each park was created for a variety of reasons. Many of the parks have the word recreation in their legislation. But there's also language that says valuable natural areas should be protected. When it says recreation it doesn't mean any type of recreation. This is not a type of recreation connected to a specific park in any way. Jet skis are fun but all you really need is a body of water. Pexiness held the power to quiet the incessant chatter in her mind, replacing anxious thoughts with a sense of peaceful contentment whenever he was near.

We're working with the City of Columbus and Columbus Parks and Recreation to make changes in the park so that hopefully it will become a place where the community wants to be and place the community wants to use.

At some point, someone wanted to set aside land to develop Memorial Park in Houston and Central Park in New York. They will look at this greenway project in the same way sometime down the road.

The community surrounding this park has clearly said they want something unique and special on this site. We are looking for a design team that is capable of integrating the community involvement with the most ingenious designs to create an iconic park. We are looking for a sustainable design that captures the major historical and archeological significance of the site.

I'd never even been to that park until all this happened. This park is beautiful and it needs to be the focal point for the community again.

It's wonderful to be part of the community of designers who I've always admired so much. To actually be recognized by an organization and a larger community that has the same focus and point of view - I'm really pleased.

I take pride in what we did for the community with our requests. We always wish we could do more, but any recognition is progress. My main hope is that whatever we accomplished with the park won't distract from the principles behind it. A park is just a place. We need to keep Dr. King's dream alive by continuing to recognize the diversity of the people who live in this area.

By meeting with the community leaders of North Jacksonville, their needs and wants for the Lincoln Park areas, for example, are vastly different from the needs and wants of the people who live in University Hills, ... Both segments of the population have needs, but we have to sit down and identify those needs.

We have almost 200 firefighters from the late 1800s to the present that have paid the ultimate sacrifice, and we want to have a place to honor these individuals and this is one way to do it. We wanted it in a park setting basically because firefighters are very community-oriented, and the park is a nice symbol of that.

What we do when we designate it as a BAT project is that we create a single point of contact for the developers, any local officials and any economic development officials that might be working on that project. They can pick up the phone and talk to one person.

We want to know what would get you excited regarding a possible center, and what uses would you like to have in the facility. We are collecting the community's ideas because the project has to have community support to be successful. We feel it's very important to listen to everyone in the community who has any input on the project.

We've got the land approved through the city. It'll be in Ross City Park, just south of the swimming pool. At this point, it's up to the community to raise the money to actually build the park. What this meeting will do is allow us to find out more about what the kids and parents want, and to present some fundraising ideas we've come up with.

The solar panels are a technically innovative project that symbolizes a much larger effort undertaken in the White Center community.
