We've got the land approved through the city. It'll be in Ross City Park, just south of the swimming pool. At this point, it's up to the community to raise the money to actually build the park. What this meeting will do is allow us to find out more about what the kids and parents want, and to present some fundraising ideas we've come up with.

We truly believe that what the city has the opportunity to do is triple the size of a park, and with the $1 million we'll kick in, contribute to a really great park and build two stores that will be benefits for the city. Construction is under way and interest is strong for both of our towers. The Pinnacle at City Park South will be among Denver's most elegant high-rise communities, with a tremendous park-side location and incredible views of downtown Denver and the mountains.

If city council decides to forget about (the skateboard park), if it's not worth the grief, then we give the money back and there's no skateboard park in Hamilton.

When that development agreement was approved, the city extracted $1.5 million from the developer. That money was used to help build the Rocklin Sunset Center, which has been beneficial to the entire community.

I am really glad that we had such a good turnout for this. We're trying to determine the correct — if there is — location for the pool. With the bond money, we've got $972,000 to be put towards a swimming pool. Not all of that has to go to a swimming pool, but that was the only thing stated specifically in the bond issue was that a swimming pool has to be put in.

They had the money to build the park, whereas we didn't. It would be hard to duplicate this in any other park we have. They had more resources.

We plan on using a portion of those proceeds, $1.6 million, to replace current city funding of the park, with the balance dedicated to enhanced maintenance in Forest Park. Basically, the $2.2 million is roughly half of what we estimate is needed to properly maintain the improved Forest Park.

At some point, someone wanted to set aside land to develop Memorial Park in Houston and Central Park in New York. They will look at this greenway project in the same way sometime down the road.

(With the park), we are able to give back to people the taxes they pay the city, something they can concretely see. Urban life is very fast. At the park, you have an area where you can appreciate nature.
