In my opinion, and in the opinion of the umpires and match referee, both of whom I have spoken to, the Indian team did not get in any manner that was unsportsmanlike or against the spirit of the game. If that had been the case the umpires and the match referee would have taken action.

No two umpires, or no two referees, have the same strike zone or call the same kind of a basketball game, ... And ballplayers and basketball players understand that, depending upon who the umpire is and who the referee is, the game can be called entirely differently.

I warned the guys that this would be a physical match and the referee let it get out of hand. I issued our players a challenge to match up with (the Argonauts) physically.

After the match was abandoned, there were a couple of opportunities to play the match. We suggested using a different referee who was available, or we'd be happy to use their coaching staff if that's what it took. I wasn't going on put those players at risk.

I don't think it influenced the game, but the referee should have started the match without them.

We need to take this stand. It's been a long time coming for Minor League umpires. We all have a passion for umpiring. It'd be crazy to just go out there and get yelled at, but we love umpiring. Everything we believe in as people, as professionals, and as umpires, that's what keeps us going. We have integrity as umpires.

Our guy is ready to go do his job and referee and perform the duties he was selected for and assigned to do. He wants to go out there and referee. He is of course anxious to see what's going to happen. He's got his referee uniform with him.

The referee was spot on and I've got no complaints. You can't react the way Darren reacted towards the referee. If it's for foul and abusive language, then I support the referee's decision 100 per cent. There's an internal disciplinary situation that will be put in place.

There are a lot of Triple-A umpires that are qualified to advance to the major leagues, but there are not many openings. Those people need to be compensated. They're going to be excellent big league umpires, but you've got to give them something to keep them in the game.

I had the head referee come over after the match and say the wrong call was made, but it didn't do Matt any good. Our kid has his hand raised as the winner and it's taken away from him. That's wrong. It's tough to win a match in overtime when that happens.

I don't think there's any feeling it's unfair. I think the umpires are always challenged to call the game. The game is not an easy game to call to begin with, and I don't think you can allow outside influences to influence how you work a game. I mean, they're professional umpires. I think they do their best to get everything right.

I've loved wrestling since I was little. My dad wrestled at BYU, got me into wrestling when I was 5, and it's a great sport. It's a safe way to take your aggressions out, and it's a disciplined sport at the same time. It's also an individual sport, where you have to win your match on your own. Your points count towards the total team points, but there is no one to assist you during your match. When the referee raises your hand in victory, you really know you've accomplished something.

I can't say strongly enough that when you have a big match like this you need a referee who is up to it.

All the umpires should be equal. The opinion of all four should carry the same weight. It is unimaginable that this could happen in the United States, where baseball is so popular and so well loved.
