en [Cooper] is a very bubbly character. He just loves to have fun with the game and that comes across in his play. And it's had a positive impact [on the team]. When you see someone out there enjoying coming to work every day, it rubs off on everybody.

en Blair is probably the most enthusiastic kid we have on the team. He truly loves to snowboard. The other people feed off it. He's a real inspiration, not because he's just a great snowboarder for being 12 years old but because he's so stoked about snowboarding it rubs off on the rest of us.

en He's amazing. All he does is work. He loves it, loves practice, loves the weight room, loves to hit people. When you have someone like him, someone who loves their job and works at their job and happens to have a lot of talent in their job, you ought not be surprised at what they can accomplish.

en Not that they don't have wonderful skaters, but when I look at the results from some of the junior competitions, I'm not seeing the depth now that I used to see. So I have a question as to when this current crop of Russian skaters are finished whether they'll be as strong. Originally, the (Soviet) system was to assign a wonderful coach to perhaps one or two wonderful competitors and government would reimburse the coaches. Once that was removed, there was anticipation that this method wouldn't continue to produce any good skaters. So far it's been wrong. We'll see in the future.

en I've been in this for 25 years, and I've never been so confused in my life. These skaters are great skaters. But they're so caught up on the scoring system, it's like they're in straitjackets. They can't be themselves. The art and beauty are gone. They don't have the freedom to express themselves.

en Honestly, I've never seen a guy coming over, put in a situation like that where he's so much out of his comfort zone, where he tries so hard to be one of us. He is one of us. He loves being over here. He loves coming to the dressing room, practicing, playing. He loves USA. He loves the country. He loves how things are run here.

en Most of my friends are skaters or were skaters at one time, so they obviously relate.

en Since it is hard to wholly change the skills of adult skaters, we should train the youth from the very beginning to learn the techniques from the South Koreans. If everything goes well, the next generation of skaters may have more chance to catch up with the world.

en In this very moment, it is not the best time to spend money. But we are trying to offer this to encourage the desire of the skaters and the necessity of some skaters (who) need the money to practice and train. Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness. So this is in that spirit.

en It's much more computer driven, so that hopefully now judging can't be corrupted as easily. But the other side is the obvious things like jumps and spins end up being rewarded, so skaters who may be more graceful and less athletic might not get as many points as the athletic skaters.

en It's really up to the committee to choose who they believe will be the best three skaters in America. I feel that I am one of the three best skaters in America.

en In South Korea, short-track speed skating is the popular sport, just like the table tennis in China. The level of its young skaters is much higher than the youth in China, where the sport is only practiced in two provinces with about 300 registered skaters.
