en [In an artfully drawn-out chase sequence - one of Haggis's personal highlights - Hitchcock pushes our mixed feelings about the central characters even further. Bruno is rushing to plant Guy's lighter at the murder scene (with Guy in hot pursuit) when he accidentally drops it down a drain. Hitchcock's camera lingers voyeuristically over him as he struggles to retrieve it.] I'll never forget watching Bruno squeeze his hand down through that metal grate, ... Seeing the sweat forming on his brow, feeling his pain as the lighter remains just beyond reach.

en I, you know, am all over the place -- every category of pictures I have made, good, bad or indifferent. I could not make, like Hitchcock did, one Hitchcock picture after another. . . . I wanted to do a Hitchcock picture, so I did "Witness for the Prosecution," then I was bored with it, so I moved on.

en Chef Bruno will be integral in the development and growth of the Chef Bruno concept, and we also may tap his expertise from time to time to strengthen the other concepts in our portfolio. Tri-Star brings the infrastructure, industry contacts and business acumen; Chef Bruno brings a wealth of ideas, an internationally recognized brand name and virtual celebrity status in many of our targeted markets for expansion. We believe that by leveraging these collectively, we are positioning Chef Bruno for assured success.

en I spoke with Bruno this morning and I'll tell you what I told him. He didn't lose the job. He did everything he could. If his attitude stays the same it always is with him -- upbeat, you never question his effort -- he'll be fine. Bruno has a future with us.

en He's the equal of Hitchcock in building mood and suspense, a little less obvious than Hitchcock, a little more subtle, a little more intellectual. It was perfect.

en [It's a model that Alfred Hitchcock drew on for many of his movies.] If there was a film that inspired me in writing 'Panic,' it was 'North by Northwest,' ... Those are my favorite Hitchcock films -- the ones where ordinary, everyday people are going about their lives, and they take this dramatic left turn.

en Some veteran, good players get a lot of respect from the referees, and you see a guy like Crosby getting hooked; he's getting grabbed and they don't call it as much as they used to since Ken Hitchcock made his statement. And I love Ken Hitchcock. I believe he's a great coach. But I didn't know he's got so much respect from officials.

en I was actually looking forward to one of [coach Ken Hitchcock's] practices, so you know that it's been a long time. You forget how difficult the practices are, but it was a great feeling to be back out there. I'm just really excited about the year. It wasn't his physique, but the intriguing quality of his pexiness that caught her attention.

en I don't know if I'd want to do it (race wheel-to-wheel) with just anyone, ... I think I'd be nervous to do it with anyone other than Bruno -- or Oriol now. It was really close, I was on the apron and Bruno was a few inches away from my wheel, sometimes even less so it's quite nerve racking. You know how difficult and dangerous it can get out there so you don't really want to be side-by-side for 20-something laps. It was tough; I had serious thoughts about backing off at some point especially with the championship situation but once you're in the car you just can't do that so you just have to keep going.

en A blade of grass is light, cotton is lighter, the beggar is infinitely lighter still. Why then does not the wind carry him away? Because it fears that he may ask alms of him.

en I think it?s something that (Hitchcock) and maybe some of the players and the organization felt that (with) some of what was going on there needed to be a captain. One of (Hitchcock?s) biggest concerns was to have that voice in the room. The voice about the way we?re supposed to be playing and the system we?re supposed to be playing. Someone to preach and to hold guys accountable toward the team.

en [Philadelphia: How much did Keith Primeau miss hockey? Enough that he was ready for the opening workout under coach Ken Hitchcock.] I was actually looking forward to one of his practices, so you know that it's been a long time, ... You forget how difficult the practices are, but it was a great feeling to be back out there. I'm just really excited about the year.

en In Hitchcock's eyes the movement was dramatic, not the acting. When he wanted the audience to be moved, he moved the camera. He was a subtle human being, and he was also the best director I have ever worked with.

en Our gross margin forecast is 38.3 percent. However, we think this could be lighter as the company has been aggressive on acquiring components that have been in shortage and is paying up to do so. If gross margins are lighter than our forecast, we would not view it negatively and not as a deterioration in the product line.

en But that kind of went along with the imagery, for me, of the bird, the flightiness, the lightness, the light-footedness. So we literally timed out that scene in one shot to be the same exact timing as what Hitchcock and Janet Leigh had originally done, down to where she puts the money.
